She might be putting on weight due to this being her second time infecting herself with the spores. But due to the spores having been stored for a while their ability to process food is greatly reduced causing the weight gain along with making the time to convert christine body into a host for them has been increased. But once the spores have established themselves and fully converted her into a host she should experience rapid weight loss as the brood rapidly breaks down all the extra fat cells to fuel their growth.
