Buffalo Trace did not stop making Eagle Rare. They actually spent $1.2 billion on expansion last year in an attempt to meet demands. Unfortunately Eagle Rare is aged 10 years, so that will keep the current supply low for the foreseeable future. Several other factors are at play here when it comes to availability. Covid helped usher in the "bourbon boom", many people stuck at home decided to make an expensive hobby out of day drinking, so they started collecting (hoarding) bourbon, especially ones produced by Buffalo Trace. This was only exacerbated by the secondary market. People reselling harder to find bottles online at several times msrp. The thumbnail for this podcast actually features a few of the very hard to find collector unicorns. Eagle Rare 17 resells for $1k+, and the Double Eagle Very Rare has an msrp of $2000 and goes for over $20k on secondary. If you want a reasonably priced substitute I'd recommend Old Forrester 1897, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, or Knob Creek 9 year. These may not have the exact flavor profile as the Eagle Rare, but they should be available on most shelves and be in the $40-60 price range.

Great job Brad on the weight loss, it's really hard to do and you've nailed it. I've just signed up to the Fastic app ready for the New Year as I'm hoping fasting will work for me. I've tried everything else so I'm adamant that it's going to work for me in 2024 (and beyond!)
