Every one has to whine about something what makes me laugh is that my fav podcast whined about the cameos and the reason for them except they forget that the damn cameos are just people using skins they arent “the characters” lmao

Saw this before Fortnite made IPs hanging out a common thing, so I came out of it fairly positive. Especially since there's a baseline of quality with Spielberg involved. Did I revisit it for this show? Nah, man.

1941 doesn't have many redeeming qualities.

I work with someone who named their child Anakin. 😞

Vinny talked about the two creators of The Oasis maybe being a Wozniak/Jobs analog. People should check out the Blackberry movie that came out last year. That is very much a situation where the tech side and the business side have no idea what the other is doing and might actually be at odds with each other.

AI was a fine film, then it ran for another 45 minutes for some reason

I was a bit surprised by the hate everybody has for this movie. I read the book basically when it came out and saw the movie around the time it came out. I enjoyed both of them in their own way. The book, is not great, it's not well written, it's not fine literature... but I read it almost like fan fiction written from somebody who could have been a friend of mine, just having fun and telling a story. I didn't take it very seriously and I honestly enjoyed the nostalgia and the references. It was a book written for me basically... somebody who grew up in the 80's (born in the mid 70's) and was a nerd when it was less cool to be a nerd. If you don't overthink it and just read it like a comic book, it was fine and fun. The movie... I was fairly disappointed at first when I saw it... because they changed a lot of the references and challenges to be simpler and less hard-core nerdy (they made it more modern and simplified for today's youth... and to work as a movie). I didn't hate it, but I thought it was... again... dumb fun. The references are ridiculous, but they are kind of meant to be. Also, you have to remind yourself, these characters on the screen are just avatars of normal people playing the game (they are basically DLC hats).. they don't have to be faithful to the original source material... they are just Halloween costumes in a giant EverQuest which spans all fictional universes. Again.. the movie was dumb entertainment and I think I learned to enjoy it a bit more because I have two teenage sons who had a good time watching it. I think Alex took all of this WAY too seriously... this movie is like a highly produced Saturday morning cartoon stretched out over 90 minutes with every reference from the past 50 years of nerd culture thrown in for goofs. I find it trashy, but not offensive.

I feel like I must not be a Real Nerd because I enjoyed this movie and wasn’t as offended by the references as literally everyone else in the universe.

I landed about where Brad is with this movie. I cannot agree with him on The Martian though :) I have a buddy who despises this movie with a burning passion. I am 99% certain that the Iron Giant scene, which was an important movie to him, set him on it. I might have made it worse when I pointed out that it was good symbolism that your nostalgia is nothing but a disposable IP to someone else.

TJ Miller is an awful human and was cancelled during me too for sexual assault he committed in college. He said she was bandwagoning and inferred that a majority of women were during me too.

Chris Clark

At an advanced screening of The Post, Spielberg copped to realizing he could either spend a whole year in an office, checking and requesting revisions to the hundreds of CG shots as they finished rendering, or he could do all that remotely while shooting an entire other film.

Olivia Cooke is most famous now for House of the Dragon probably.

I appreciate the chaos Vinny brings to the Watchcast selection
