Stay in the Loop: Upcoming Patreon Changes

We have 2 quick announcements to keep you in the loop about some upcoming Patreon changes.
1.) Due to new laws passing in several countries and US states, Patreon will be required to start charging sales tax in some states and countries starting July 1st.
Based on where you live, you may be charged a sales tax on a small percentage of your pledge, not the full pledge amount. For more information and examples, we made a handy info-sheet. Patreon will also be sending you more information about this in a few days.
2.) We are always looking for ways to make Patreon better for our amazing Patrons (you!). To thank you for your support, we’re going to make some changes based on what you want to see more (or less) of.

That's really interesting. I had perceived these payments as donations / gifts rather than payment for service. Is it based on the fact that 'rewards' are offered? My reasons for contributing are not for my own benefit (the reward), but more a perception that that payment goes someway to ensure that the channel (and other channels that I support) stay afloat. And yes I know that $3 is not that much, it's a team effort.
