Regarding the wedding, they said why they still had it and it just boils down to life still goes on even when times are dark. Things like that are important to survival, especially in long haul situations like this.

Now imagine having to wait like... 8 months to see the end. This movie gets some shit because people think it's slow but I like that it showed how frustrated and stressed they were. The book felt like that too, it seemed like nothing was going their way and every dub was extremely hard fought in the first half or so of this book.
