I think the "accidental" part is that he wasn't going to have things go the direction they did until he was pushed into a corner.

Yeah, unlike getting the wrong target, in this case they got the wrong suggestion. And he didn't expect them to not watch it, he just didn't expect that the person watching it would perceive it as being shorter in duration than it really was as a result of his suggestion.

The people that we see affected by it *are* the ones that he was targeting though, unlike the wrong person drinking a potion. And if he thought that nobody would watch it before it was broadcast, that they would just put up an advert without checking what it was, then he's a total fucking idiot.

Yeah, I think those situations are covered under the "accidental hypnosis" theme. Similarly to how putting a love potion into someone's drink and someone else drinking it would be accidental hypnosis even though you did intentionally use the love potion.

I would say that is closer to "mishap" than "accidental". He clearly *did* intend it to hypnotise, it just didn't do quite what he thought it would.

I dropped a few hints on how it was accidental; the price being less than half what he expected, them not waking up right away, and nobody remembering the duck. Basically, the commercial was cut short because the person who received the file watched it and became convinced it was shorter than it was, cutting off the second half of the instructions when added to the schedule.
