I'm actually familiar with the weaver! I know what you mean. As for the cards proposals. I'll take a closer look the next time i visit chicken out :D

Haven't read Mr_anderson's story yet so no comment on that. Honestly i didn't even think of the term "playful" whan i said chaotic/mischievous but something that while mean and out to screw the players over would do some random things (to be more specific i was thinking of Weaver's character Breaker if you are familiar when i proposed this) Again totally ok not wanting to restrain yourself with rules, still this is nitpicking so i nitpick.

The idea behind the cards are very much based on the original story by Mr_anderson. I had a hard time adapting a convincing story that would compel the players to get a certain point. As for the spirit. I prefer the vengeful mindset over a playful one. I want it to have grim undertones rather than a playful one. So making the spirit angry towards mankind fits that vibe much more. Also, and feel free to call me lazy on this part. I don't want to establish too many rules as a baseline as I'll want to revisit the story later with other branches with unique twists. As with my other stories, the platform is sentient to a degree, so it can alter the rules from game to game based on it's whims and what it feels like doing. If, lets say a group of couples play the game, the rules could be altered to support teams of two instead of many individual players.

A few suggestions for the game would be 1. Instead of Mind, body, head and fashion (+Style and outfit) go for 1. Distinguishing features.(replacing head while also opening some extra options) 2. Shape/Form (replacing body) 3. Mind (i am guessing same as before) 4. Experiences ( kinda like mind but works by altering the past and it's effecs might not be limited to mental ones. 5. Aesthetics/bearings (same as fashion, style, clothing but also afecting likes and dislikes.) Finally 6 Goals (Effecting a person's... Well goals or vision fo the future by adding, removing or altering an existing one. Now as for the win conditions instead of making the game about traversing a set number of tiles and the game only counts after reaching half the board why not have the gameboard be in a loop and the game ends when someone lands in the starting tile exactly or every or only a single player remains but add that a player can only be declared a winner if they have completed atleast 1 loop alternatively every player receives a penalty (in addition with keeping all transformations) if there is no winner. Finally if you are set on the rule about extra transformations happening if people land on the same square it should be the player that occupied the tile first instead of the opposite to make up for the fact that very likely have the turn advantage... However given this would be hard to implement in the writing format you are using make so the transformations takes effect only if they chose to not chicken out on their next turn, also there should be some rules on the transformations instead of being a free for all for example it adds the same type of transformation with the one the player that land on the same tile received last turn or perhaps they get a transformation the second player already has (it could be even that they get something not inflicted to the other player from the game.)

1.Fails to establish the very important rule about the game only "counting" as being won only after making it through half the board aaand putting the rule like that feels like an afterthought.2. Available transformation feel like they are limited as basically only one of them is not superficial (mind). 3. Minor gripe but perhaps instead of a vengeful spirit say a chaotic and/or mischievous spirit since it would allow for more possibilities moving forward.

The winner get's complete control of the changes and can choose to revert specific ones for either themself or their friends. Whether they decide to actually play nice by the end is a different question however :P

Btw something i wanted to ask for some time now, how much control does the winner have over reversing the transformations ? Is it an everything or nothing deal ? Can they choose to turn someone back and leave others transformed ? Or does it go even further and they can decide on individual changes (perhaps limited from their perseption in this case).

Felixfalck

I may not have been clear enough on this, but if a player chickens out they're out of the game for good, stuck with whatever changes they got. This should serve as a sort of deterrent, forcing players with unfavorable changes to continue to get to that final wish that has the power to reverse it all.

Are there rules or punishments against chickening out too often? I could see someone chickening out on each card they've drawn to progress without any changes. Even if it just took you back to the start of your turn, a group could play it safe by chickening out each round unless they got really minor changes.
