NAS hard drive update: (good news)
🕑 Added 2019-06-15 14:48:28 +0000 UTCGreetings Patrons,
The good news is that through some very patient tech support at Synology (shout out to Carl!), they were able to walk me through getting the system back, albeit in a degraded state. This meant that I had access to all the content so I could do one last massive backup before putting in the new drives. The downside is that I would need to re-install everything. I'll take that trade-off any day. So, no data loss!
As you can see from the above image each drive undergoes an extensive parity check that takes around 15 hours per drive., and I've got 3 left to go! I won't be able to add everything back until all the drives have been added to the storage pool but I'm going to get the web content back first thing so I can continue work.
Thanks everyone for their messages of support. It meant a lot.
Best,
Tim

Good news. I've dealt with tons of failed RAID arrays at my work and lots of times we wren't so lucky.

That's great news! I have tried to help some people with data loss and it can be so hard if it's gone for good. Glad you're on your way back, Tim. All the best!
