Virtual Tour of the Polish Army Museum (ad-free)
🕑 Added 2022-08-09 12:00:09 +0000 UTCOn my recent trip to Warsaw, I spent some time filming guns in the collection of the Polish Army Museum. In an effort to create something of a library of museum tours, I made sure to take some time to film a short virtual tour of the exhibits for you - note that I did this after the museum had closed, so there is nobody else in the halls.
Also note that the museum is in the process of slowly moving to a new location, so some of their exhibits are not on display (notably material form the 19th century). They do still have a full Winger Hussar on his mount, though! Outside the main building is a vehicle park with a very cool assortment of armor and aircraft, but the inclement weather prevented me from filming that (sorry).
If you find yourself in Warsaw, it is definitely worth stopping in to see the museum.I found the sections on Polish underground manufacturing and the Warsaw Uprising particularly unique. This museum may not have the popular awareness of the dedicated Warsaw Uprising Museum, but it has artifacts that are every bit as good (if not better, but you didn't hear me say that...). if you ever come near "burg eltz"... frontstuffers only but WHAT kind of muzzleloaders. swivel gun all engraved all over. must have cost a fortune even back in the day. not the biggest place around but very nice history and exhibition.

Alas, if you liked the IWM in 1971 you will probably be pretty disappointed by it today.

Impressed, I remember going to the Imperial War Museum in England in 1971and was overwhelmed with the amount of history presented. I plan on visiting it again and hopefully visit other countries museums also.

At a very small war museum in Rzeszow, their exhibits do less to confuse Poland’s tragic WW II military history. On display are awards for valor and the personal effects of the young men of Rzeszow who fought in the Polish, Soviet and German armies…the majority as conscripts.

The prototype Enigma machine was the highlight of my trip there (back in 2008). It was, I believe, a Polish mathematician who developed the prototype, which the Germans adopted…the Polish gentleman then gave all the plans for the prototype to the British. (An intact German enigma machine is at the Arsenal military museum in Vienna).
