Llama M82: Gabilondo Copies the Beretta (But More Complicated) (ad-free)
🕑 Added 2023-05-22 12:00:02 +0000 UTCThe Llama M82 was adopted as the new Spanish Army service pistol to replace aging Star Model B pistols. The design of the side is mechanically almost identical to a Beretta 92, while the frame and controls include a lot of DNA from the commercial Llama Omni. It was adopted in 1986, with the first military deliveries taking place in 1987.

Jeez, you'd think if they were going to go to all the trouble of knocking off the Beretta they'd get it right so that there would be complete parts interchangeability and they could have a little side-gig of spare parts action going on with their lower co$t of labor giving them a competitive edge. Sure, some people are always going to go with the official part, but if Gabilondo were really skirting the edge of staying afloat, you'd think they'd want any extra revenue streams they could get...

I like spanish made rifles A LOT better than their handguns. doubt that quality. only one that comes to mind that's somewhat more tempting would be an astra a-60 but then again.... cz82.
