A Note on Membership Tiers
🕑 Added 2024-02-28 23:31:20 +0000 UTCSo. For the sake of my own peace of mind, as much as anything, I want to explain a bit about how my membership tiers work, and what the actual tangible benefits of each are.
$1 gets you early access to the various series chapters I write. I usually keep things on Patreon for 2 weeks, minimum, though there's been a few exceptions to this rule - like when I came back from my hiatus, and posted things after a single week for a while to let everyone know I was actually back. Sometimes things also stay longer than two weeks - like right now, I'm keeping to a schedule on Demon Queened and building up a buffer so that I can offer more to my patrons.
All that said, there's a reason I don't list a specific number of chapters that patrons will remain ahead by. I suffer from mental health issues - namely severe clinical depression - and sometimes struggle with writing. As such, the exact number of chapters tends to fluctuate. There's even been long periods where I couldn't write at all... I'm going to try and keep everyone up to date on such states, though, so that people can make informed decisions on whether they want to drop from my patreon until it passes.
$5, meanwhile, gets you access to bonus stories! My goal is to write at least a few thousand words each month for this. But, just like with story writing, my mental health sometimes gets in the way... What's more, there are periods where I can only seem to focus on a singular series or story, which throws a wrench in the works. As a result, the schedule for these stories is basically non-existent.
More than that, I think it's worth discussing the nature of the bonus stories I write. They're rather different in flavor than the series I write, after all - in that they tend to be a bit... darker. Not all of them, of course. Some are nothing but wholesome sweetness! But a lot of the times, they're outlets for my darker kinks, with permanent transformations and mental changes being on the lighter side of the spectrum. There's a lot of things that are a bit too dark for me to inflict on characters I'm really attached to, or which are sort of twistedly sweet in the short term but become more and more horrific if you focus on it too long... That's the sort of stuff that gets put into one-shots, versus series. Though I do have one rule I generally keep to for them: everyone in them will end up happy, at the end. Though whether they should be happy, or *would* have been happy with this at the series start is another matter entirely...
As for the higher tiers, I can't really recommend them in good conscious. I appreciate everyone who joins them, anyway, but my mental health issues make commissions rather hard on me - which is the main reason I made them so expensive, to begin with. I've already got a list of stories I owe people, too - if you're on it, and can't wait/want a refund, do let me know.

Thanks for the update on things. I haven't really looked through your one-shots (yet), though I'm glad that you like to focus on happy endings (even if said happy endings are otherwise kinda fucked up). I'm a hopeless romantic at heart, but I will gravitate to the darker side of things from time to time: there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Largely I got the second tier membership because I wanted to show my support to you as a writer, not merely for what it "gets" me. I think you have a real talent, and I want to encourage you to keep pursuing your writing in whatever way you feel comfortable with (even if you have to take a hiatus here and there, though hopefully for your sake those will be few and far between). As long as you want to keep writing, I'll be there to support you.

I haven't trolled through your archives to see what you mean but I get the gist. I'll subbed to a couple authors that do a wide variety of pieces, and I'll be honest there's some topics that when I see them I know right away I'm not interested. But... I was aware of that when I subbed and still get lots of content that I *do* like so it doesn't really bother me. Point is, I don't think you need to worry about scaring people away as long as you put in content warnings if necessary.
