Ian and Jackson Crawford Discuss Making the Viking Atgeirr Videos (ad-free)
🕑 Added 2023-04-04 12:01:00 +0000 UTCDr. Jackson Crawford and I got the idea for our collaborative April fools videos on Viking firearms and gunpowder almost 8 months ago, when we visited Iceland together on the way to Finnish Brutality 2022. We took some time this week to talk about the origins of the videos and some of the Easter eggs in them. This was recorded live with an audience of our Patreon supporters, and now is published for the general public.
We've really set a high bar for next year's April fools videos...

I thought that Ian portrayed his as a reproduction. In which case the visible glue especially as a proof of concept doesn't matter. But yeah nitrate from sharks is sus

The oldest REAL firearms, the Estonian Otepää gonne and the German Tannenberg gonne were "polearms", they had a socket to mount to a pole like a spear head. The stock came later. You really got me this time, the most suspicious notes were the "nitrate from sharks" and the visible glue on the barrel.
