Intro to Prism Scopes: What are they Anyway? (Ad-free)

Mike's a friend and a true optics nerd, and I figured he could help give folks an understanding of some of the fundamentals of modern firearms optics. Today, we are going to talk about prism scopes. These have become popular and common in recent years, offering an alternative to red dots for unmagnified optics, and many are also available at the 3x magnification range. So, what do they do better or worse than red dots and traditional tube optics?

Probably the best sales pitch for me: Having someone talk about something they know, they love and where they both admit their own product's shortcomings while managing to be fair to the competition. The comment on the Elcan Spectre was well done. After getting a sling stuck under the eye piece and wondering about the huge POF shift, I'd not managed to be as polite ;-)

would have mentioned pros and cons compared with lvpo's but yes, well explained.

I do run a lvpo but my eyes getting reaally old and a "standart" static diciplin competition... well with optics those targets getting rather small. ipsc from real close to max 300 a prism would do somewhat better. for a smaller carbine than my old huge musket.. prism.
