Makarov PB: Silenced KGB "Wet Work" Pistol (Ad-free)
🕑 Added 2024-06-19 12:00:10 +0000 UTCIn 1967, the Tula arsenal introduced a specialized silenced version of the Makarov for covert use. This was a very effective pistol, and its design was also very heavily changed from that of the regular pistol. With a two-part silencer surrounding the barrel, the recoil spring had to be moved to a location inside the grip panels. It was still chambered for 9x18mm Makarov though, and used standard Makarov magazines. Not much official information has been published on the PB - it may actually still be in production today - and so I don't have any good production numbers to provide.

I remember reading an article many years back on the suppressed Makarov. Just like this one, it was purpose built for the KGB. The one difference in that one that I recall is that the safety had been modified to de-cock the hammer, but not really put the gun in to safe. It would also lock the slide CLOSED. It would still fire with a double-action pull but the locked slide would reduce the mechanical noise of the gun cycling. Cannot remember where I read that, probably SOF or G&A many years back.
