Colt 608: The AR15 as a Pilot's Survival Rifle (Ad-free)
🕑 Added 2024-07-29 12:00:02 +0000 UTCAs part of its effort to build out the AR-15 family of small arms, Colt introduced the Model 608 in 1965. This was intended to be an aircraft survival rifle, able to pack disassembled into a small space with four 20-round magazines for use by the US Air Force. With a 10 inch barrel, fixed tubular stock, and cut down grip it weighed just 4.75 pounds and had a maximum length of just 17.6 inches when disassembled. It was only produced as a prototype, with ten or fewer being made in total.

Not as cool as the M30 Luftwaffe Drilling but probably handier.

I really can't understand a rationale of that being a silencer. A 22 conversion kit which is perfectly legal is a much lower sound footprint. That moderator would still make you deaf in short order. The NFA rationale on silencers just doesn't make much sense sometimes (often)

today? fn p90 or better still (what happened to that thing?!) magpul PDR. hey that still could have provided SOMEBODY from the hanoi hilton. big maybe but ending on the ground... I reckon I would gladly take that over a handgun with like 20rounds or something.
