Tuesday Showcase #47: Tendencies

I'm hard at work on Chapter 55, making sure to give Oliver a tone that will be satisfying for his return. I'll talk about it next week, once I'm sure his new version works correctly.
In the meantime, here's a smaller change that will come with version 0.29: improvements of the tendency system.
Over the last few months, I think I've done a better work with the tendencies, and making them different enough to each other. And I'd like to have this tone be applies to all the game.
So, over time, I'll go back to earlier chapters, and improve the tendency-related dialogues. This is something small I'll do on top of the usual content, so don't worry, you won't get less new chapters.
That being said, you will lose one tendency. Specifically, the Balanced one. I've felt for some time now that it was just another "Stag" tendency, and that, in consequence, the Stag tendency was the exact same. So, the game will now have only 4 Tendencies. They'll all be more defined, with a more specific personality. No more "two tendencies, and two harder versions of those".
So, the final tendencies will be:
Stag: you're confident in your ability to please Laura, but you would enjoy her getting even more pleasure, and seeing her fool around with other men would turn you on. You know she'll always come back to you though.
Confident Stag: Laura is yours to do as you please, and what pleases you is to share her with other men. You get off on seeing your girlfriend pleasing other people, and reminding her that she's yours. While you're kinda Dominant, Laura is still her own person though, and will take decisions by herself. You won't control her.
Cuck: you think Laura deserves more than you can offer her, even though she's satisfied with you. You would enjoy her doing positive reinforcement, telling you how much of a good boy you are, while she goes to other men to get even more pleasure. More of a Gentledom tone than before.
Submissive Cuck: you know Laura deserves more than you can offer her, and you'd enjoy her reminding you of that. You'll patiently wait for her to get back home from being fucked by other men, and enjoy having her tell you how pathetic you are for that. Even though it's nothing more than a roleplay, and you actually satisfy her.
Instead of these Tendencies developing over time, Laura will ask about them as soon as Chapter 3. Your tendency will be determined there, and stay the same for the whole game. Laura will be a bit more explicit when asking you about it though, to make sure you choose correctly.
Here's an example, with the Submissive Cuck dialogues:
Of course, that means that, for some time, the game might be in an awkward place Tendency-wise. Starting with Chapter 55, if you were in a Balanced relationship, you'll be assigned to Stag. And, even though you can become Submissive Cuck as soon as Chapter 3, you won't get dialogues for that in Chapter 4 (Laura will need time to adjust anyway, so you won't get much of that in early chapters).
But these changes will allow me to make 4 more defined paths, for a story that should align more closely to what different people are looking for.

I think this can be good, but that dialogue in those examples seems awkward, unnatural. It sounds too much like an NPC giving a summary of the difficulty settings you've chosen.

There is a specific point where you say either yes or no to small surprises / rules breaking and for big surprises / rules breaking for situations like that, and those choices already has an effect on wether she ask for permission for Nathan to creampie her or if she just does it.

As a story writer I appreciate the clarification and expression of each persona. One misconception I think should be explicitly addressed is the difference between "having control" and "setting boundaries". The setting boundaries during the "Weekend Away" narrative did a great job of giving the Stag/Confident Stag and opportunity to agree upon lines that will not be crossed by Laura during her sharing escapades...that, of course should not be confused with the male protagonist having to be asked prior to an already agreed upon scenario. So if Laura and our MC agreed that Laura could participate in light submission and bondage, then Laura wouldn't (shouldn't) have to ask each time there was an opportunity for such an event to occur. That said,I stand firm on my view that in a truly loving and mutually beneficial open relationship, there should be occasional checks on each other as well as opportunities for either partner to put a stop to any activity once they determine it is something they no longer want. I realize that cannot be something that is written into this story, so consider it a perspective from someone with experience. I digress. One consideration is for Laura and the MC to have one last conversation regarding anything new before the first time it happens. The first threesome scene with Nathan was a fairly good example of this. There were choices available to the MC for levels of participation. If Laura was going to be getting fisted in the ass by Tara while Ashley live streamed the entire event (extreme to be sure, although I wouldn't say no), there should be a pause and brief discussion on whether this is something the MC is still comfortable with before proceeding. If not, then the player (us) misses the content and we move on with the story - no harm, no foul. Everyone else could say yes and fap their way through another hot scene in the story. It maintains the mutual respect and trust Laura and the MC have without degrading the overall story and experience. Of course, this is all relative to the Stag/Confident Stag personas.

I want to see more cuckqueen content also as why introduce all these women if the MC can't have his way with them, I personally don't see how people get pleasure in being denied, but then again people have some strange kinks, why i find bizarre. I am a very competitive person and I love seeing a partner being pleasured, and knowing she is really enjoying I just enjoy the naughtiness of it all and the fact that I am going to reclaime her and pleasure her more.

I find the stag/confident stag thing confusing. I want to be dominant, but share her. I like controlling all aspects, and having her ask permission, then it suddenly sounds like that path means I am now giving her permission to do things without it, or is that a different change?

So if I understand correctly, Stag is the dominant one, while Confident Stag is a bit less so, since you let Laura make her own decisions instead of controlling her, is that correct ?

Clarifying the tendencies is definitely a good thing. In terms of the sub cuck route, what are your thoughts on introducing tease&denial or even chastity going forward? You've touched on these topics lightly before, and that was really enjoyable.
