Possible reboot

I’ve been considering rebooting Star Children and starting from scratch. Why? There’s a lot of reasons
When I first started, I had no idea what I was doing. Both with how to make a comic and what to even do with the story. I had a concept and I just sort of bullshitted my way through it to where we are now. Now that I’ve grown so much as an artist and a writer, I want to give the story the justice it deserves— it really is the story that made me want to create stories in the first place. Because of the lack of knowledge and planning, I’ve been working against constant burn out every time I try to pick it back up. I think scrapping what I have and starting anew will be what brings that joy and excitement back to me.
I would obviously upload the full original version here so it’s available to read — I also don’t plan on changing much — just reorganizing where scenes go to make the story flow better and fix some plot holes and story restrictions I unintentionally made for myself that’s been making it so hard to move forward.
Another factor is that just where Star Children is now, it’s not getting the engagement it used to get that it once did. I can see readers getting frustrated or confused because of my weak storytelling and dropping it. Heck, 186k subs and only about a small fraction of returning readers? It really hurts to see, and what makes it so hard to continue where I currently am.
Now, the other thing is that… even though I want to reboot the story, I may not be able to continue to work on it due to conflicting interest. I have to be vague, but using the same characters in another comic can make it challenging, but I’m going to ensure that I fight for the rights of my characters and their respective universes. Hell — I MADE it canon that theres multiple alternate universes, so it wouldn’t really be going off course to say that this is just an alternate universe. I don’t know.
I appreciate you all so much for continuing to be patient with me when it comes to this, especially for those who have been supporting me either solely for or mostly for Star Children. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, but I genuinely think this is the best for me to feel proud in the story I’m telling and give you guys a story worth reading.
I do plan on finishing the episode that has Maria and Txeru reunite, so don’t worry about that.
Didn’t mean to get gloomy on the holidays! Today has been a lot of reflecting on the past years, and this has been something plaguing me for a while. Hope you all have a great and happy day!

Personal opinion, buuuut I always enjoy watching the way an artist grows with their art. A reboot would be amazing, though, too!! -patiently waits- 💜💙💜

I’m normally just a lurker but let me pop out to say that I think a reboot is a great idea! I know you’ve mentioned the thought of a reboot before and I’m sure once you take that leap and start again it’ll be a huge relief to you. I subscribed to your Patreon because of you and how talented you are, not for one specific comic. Whatever you decide to do, I know your work will be incredible.

I’ll be referencing the original for sure! I’m not going to completely change everything, just alter some events and keep most of the key ones. Extend some parts and shorten others ^^

I wouldn’t be too changing much — mostly just getting rid of plot points that don’t make sense anymore or prevent me from doing what I do to do, and foreshadowing a lot more

I don't think the story needs to be changed because It has so much potential to go further and it would be given so much love I think a reboot and a fresh start is exactly what it needs for people to be able to fall in love with it again me personally I have waited years for this story and I can tell you it is personally one of my favorites that I have ever read and watching it grow has been such a journey I hope the reboot is able to help you get your motivation back because you are an amazing storyteller and artist and it would be so sad to see star children get Scrapped especially since it's so dear to you (and us)

Hey maybe you can just keep the old stuff as reference vs totally scrapping it. Make notes on what you want to change and whatnot and use some scenes you were confident in. Or use it as like a consultant thing. What you did and didn’t like about whatever part of the arc you were on and if you even want that particular arc. If you feel strongly about rebooting, I don’t see what the problem is. It’s a great story regardless of your burn outs. I always enjoyed your story. Matter of fact I didn’t even read TEB until I became your patron and was waiting for new chapters for SC. What your heart feels, I believe, you should go with, but listen to your head about how to go about it **for yourself. None of us fans want you burnt out on any of your stories. Take your time with your decisions and make sure they make you happy :)

Yeah that’s one way I wanna prevent. I stalled a lot when I didn’t know what to do next so I want to fix that. Plus my art is so much better, so I would do it so much more justice

I think a reboot would acutally do well for the story, as much as i like the original, i have to admit i sometimes feel lost reading it until the next key moment happens ... but thats just my two cents, so im not sure if anybody else has the same issue. If you do and only change minor scenes, maybe that will already be enough? But please don't stress yourself too much, your (mental) health comes first bevore all. And i really liked the maria and txeru cuddlung scene so if you could keep that one 😇 ...

Either way, we still are going to support you. Star children was my gateway, too, and I do think you have a solid story regardless, but it’s totally ok to restart and reboot! Your work is fantastic, and we follow you because we think you have amazing talent. I will be happy with whatever you publish, especially if it makes you happy and fulfilled. At the end of the day, if you’re forcing yourself to write something that has you burnt out, then you won’t be putting your best work forward, and I’d hate to see you hate a series that brought so many of us together. You should absolutely go for it!

Then do it. You are the author and you're working so hard to entertain us and give us joy. Why shouldn't it be your choice in what story you're telling us when? ❤️ We are here because we love your story's. So the only thing you need to do is what you love so we can continue loving your story's 😅😘

That's great to hear on all counts. TEB was my 'gateway drug's into your art & other comics. I would be heartbroken to see a Star Children reboot leaving TEB on indefinite or long term hiatus. ☺️

I have read about this thought so many times by now and always wondered why you didn't start it? Honestly it's been on you mind for so long! Go for it, girl. We're here for it so do it! 😍 Honestly I would love to see the story from scratch. Usually you won't get a chance to reread a story for your first time twice 😂 so I like this idea ❤️

That SC burns you out suggests to me that a reset and reboot is a smart move! Not to mention, stories grow and change, and I think that as a storyteller, you get to decide what to do.

TEB will still continue as normal. I was much more prepared when writing it and I have an end goal. I had a small writers block but I’m good now!

Star Children was the first series I read by you, and it's what made me fall in love with your art and storytelling. It will always be special, no matter whether you start over or not. Do what makes you happiest with your art, characters, story, and world! It sounds like this is something you've thought about a lot and that it would be a way of boosting your own excitement towards the story as a whole (which in turn will absolutely flow into the feelings of your readers and followers for sure!) 🖤 Regardless, I can't wait to see more of the stories you create and your works as a whole 🥰

I think you should do whatever you think is best for you as a creator and for the story you’ve created. I don’t think either is right or wrong, but I do think a reboot could reinvigorate the story. I’ll be following no matter what! 🩵

Totally agree with the reboot, better to start fresh and use what you’ve learned over the years to make an even better story and clear up some story elements you’ve been unhappy about 👍
