Good to know. That might not all make it into the story we plan to tell in season three, which will involve the mine wars of the 30s, but could be fodder for the future.

I live in WV currently (also an SCA member BTW). When you are doing your research for the WV story line, please remember that there are several different cultures here. You have the coal country, the mountain farming people and the people that live on the rivers, Ohio, Kanawha - Big and Little, Elk, and New. Making a living on the river can be just as dangerous as coal mining.

My grandpa told us ghost stories when we visited- we grew up in WV- my Mom has some creepy things happen to her when she was a young girl. She grew up deep in the hollars near Northfork and Crumpler WV.

My husband's family is from west-by-god West Virginia. I desperately want to visit; my husband is still freaked out (60 years later!) about how out of the way it was. Go figure.
