PATREON EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Behind The Scenes of Nerd³ Editing Behind, With Matt
🕑 Added 2020-06-01 19:00:05 +0000 UTCHello, Matt here!
To make up for there being no early access video today (There'll be one tomorrow, but it's just an edited down stream), I thought I'd make a video going over how I do editing for Nerd³ stuff - especially since a lot of people have asked about the intro from the Snowrunner video, and the new Livestream background videos.
The video is quite disjointed but I HOPE IT GIVES SOME INSIGHT. If any of you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments on this post and I'll do my best to answer them.

P.S. Here's a playlist with every video I've edited, if you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPJtGVwi1Cgro1BRdiSXX5FU36hcYoPrt

no question just wanted to say great work on all the videos and the stream backgrounds

A key would be a chroma key! Which is how green screens work (Basically, you tell the video editor to remove the colour green in a shot), however you can do it with any colour, or even base it on the shade!

Freakin' love the Top Gear intro - and everything else you guys do. Much love.

Interesting stuff and I certainly appreciate the effort you put into the Top Gear style intro. But for someone with near zero video editing experience some explanation of the terms and tools would be helpful. E.g. I have no idea what a key is apart from something you'd use to open a lock.

this is awesome! its amazing to see how much effort and attention to detail you put into these videos, keep up the excellent work matt.

As someone who knows nothing about video editing this was really interesting and the new livestream nature stuff looks really good!
Patrick Leisk
Don’t worry Matt, I like just you. Keep doing great work :)

Oh man, the current iPad Pro's are insane. I've even edited a couple of the 4k Dad³ videos on there, render times are super quick too! I imagine it'd be easier now they've got trackpad/mouse support.

It's great! Especially on the Mac/iPad. People just default to Photoshop, and before I used Affinity I just assumed it'd be a shitty cheap alternative (and it's not).
Mattophobia
Did it section by section kind of randomly, but probably 5-10 hours all in.

I like how this already has more likes than the podcast. Pretty soon matt is going to take over the channel and dan will be the second banana, THEN WHO WILL BE LAUGHING

It's interesting to see Affinity being used, a while back I was looking at Photoshop but could never justify the subscription so ended up getting Affinity Designer and Photo and I've been really impressed with them in terms of features but I haven't seen either of them getting used professionally very often.

This is the most generic question ever but how long did the intro sequence take to make?! (Great work btw on it)

You do a great job, thank you.

"I just used Final Cut, 'cause I know it." Don't worry, Matt. That's literally how most programmers answer the question "What programming language should I use?". "I'll just use this, 'cause I know it." Also, I find it funny that you seem to be very defensively stating that you edited a couple videos on an iPad, but I'm just here trying to put the pieces of my blown mind back together. I wasn't aware iPads even had the working memory required to edit HD video!
Mr Rebecca
Yay Matt!

Hey Matt, I just wanna say as much as you are the butt of a lot of homes here, we all genuinely appreciate what you do for the channel!
