Ever get those games where you think you're playing something different to everyone else? MoH:A&B is one of those games for me. I adore it. It's gorgeous, plays fast and hits the right border between playability and realism. Weapon reloads are a button and a few hand gestures, shooting feels right, and that fucking train bit is one of my favourite moments in video game history.
So, why has everyone given it a 5 or a 6 out of 10?
Sure, it's got ludicrous specs, a slightly cartoony aesthetic, and that (skippable) car chase bit made me legitimately ill, but I cannot see a problem that would drag it lower than an 8 or 9 out of 10. I was worried that it would get worse as it goes, but no, it's apparently much better after that first mission, and I loved that first mission. It feels like a PS2 game come to life, with far better graphics and VR shootery. What am I missing that's so hateful?!
Maybe it's Half-Life: Alyx being so good, but Half-Life: Alyx is a horror game, so Half-Life: Alyx is something I will never, ever play. Maybe it's some indie thing having more accurate reloading or something, IDK. All I know is that when that truck rolled up past that butchers shop, it felt like a place. Like someone's home. Then a big plane landed on it, because video games, and I grinned like a loon. I love video-games man, they're fucking rad.

It is so rare that I would ask for this but a completes would be so good this game is a blast to watch you play
A series of this would be amazing
you and me both said oooh carrots at the same exact time XD
absolutely loved this vid
Completes series?? Please!
Julian
I agree, HL:A is one of the best VR experiences. It's a bit scary at some points, but not very. And if you're really dedicated you can complete it in one sitting. I once did the gnome run in about 10 hours in one almost uninterrupted sitting.

After that Train bit I really wanted to get the game, and I do agree that the reviews are a bit harsh. But I can't help but think that the *180 GB INSTALL SIZE* has something to do with that. According to what I found on the internet, it's a bit shorter than Half Life Alyx, which looks a whole lot better and only uses 70 GB. That's just ludicrous. At this point you need a 1TB hard drive completely dedicated to EA games. Just for that I won't get this, as fun as it looks.

Some random internet person prolly wont convince you, but despite half life alyx being scary in places GOD is it the best vr experience ive ever had. Its worth the fright, plus if youre super careful you wont get scared i promise :)

This game looks like it was ripped right out of my childhood and I wish I had it.
This really does deserve a series, but aware that may actually kill Dan off given its VR.
I don't know the last time I wanted a series this much...

I’m so mad at myself that I actually laughed at “flying pan”... what has my humour become
The officer in the beginning was Marc Evan Jackson! He played Shawn (in The Good Place).
Richard Grayson
Oh Daniel, what a great vid, thank you so much! I hope there’ll be more missions and more vids of this great certainly not a 5/10 game!
