Touching on the plane tracking thing, there's an app called radio garden which is just radio stations across the globe, but also has some of the radio towers from actual airports, such as LAX, just freely available. Not sure how I feel about it tbh.

Jon'll be pleased to know that he's not actually legally allowed to take the most powerful motorbike in the world onto a motorway. He's probably legally allowed to take a 50cc motorbike onto a motorway, but I wouldn't advise that. Anything more than that would require passing a CBT, a separate theory test and a two part practical test before you can ride the most powerful motorbike in the world onto a motorway. At which point he'd be very well prepared for it and with luck, quite enjoy it 😊 unsurprisingly, getting a full motorbike license requires a bit more work than having a car license, being old enough to have done it before Feb 2001 and the audacity to purchase and attempt to ride the most powerful motorbike in the world onto a motorway 😂

My great uncle was struck by lightning when he was like 16 and survived. He apparently had a cool scar diagonally across his chest. I never saw it, and I only learned this fact about him when the thing that killed him apparently infected this scar shortly before he passed away recently.

I’ve just started aeronautical engineering at university and listening to this then going into a lecture to learn about the thing Jon is so oblivious and terrified of is actually hilarious. The lecturer was saying planes are simple, the hardest thing is take off and landing and once ur up their it’s simple. Learned about the tube you where talking about with the wasp, called a pitot tube, told us the same that if it gets blocked up you’ll be flying saying your going at this speed and you could be faster/ slower which ofcourse can make you stall or just crash too fast into the ground/ Jon’s house. All very interesting, if that’s what u like, I think we should maybe teach Jon more about engineering type things. Great podcast though, so glad it’s back.

I should go finish my private pilots licence...

Can someone tell John that pilots won't crash into his house because that would also kill the pilot? The whole "self preservation" thing. Also could someone tell mat that cessnas are not made of tinfoil. The cessna 172 I learned to fly in weighed 2300lbs empty, and max takeoff weight was ~3200lbs. Even ignoring the fuel, its going to do some damage if it hits something going 150mph. Also general aviation (the small cessna type stuff) isn't the safest mode of transport. It's about as safe as a motorcycle.

I've got to say, as someone that works in a place with a lot of meetings, the longest I've had one go on for is an hour and a half, and it was purely because we were basically working through something and it kept breaking. Meetings suck and Jon is highly incorrect.

I just love how Jon's ideal plane design is the planes Dan makes in Besiege XD

I've never seen someone so confidently wrong as Jon whenever he goes on a rant whilst completely missing the entire point, it's beautiful. This is like getting to listen to the Ricky Gervais podcast with Karl Pilkington but you don't have to listen to Ricky Gervais. It's great.

I'm not all the way through yet, but I was bracing for them to realise that the Vive Flow is a mindfulness device that has no controllers and requires an android phone to operate. and in Australia it's almost $300 more than the Quest 2.

As someone who had gone through a flight school, I can't wait to listen to this. Haven't flown in quite a few months so I'm hoping this is some good review!
