Ooh and I forgot a fun one: Snap(n) lunch, particularly a packed lunch. It comes from mining when miners ate their lunch in metal tins with a lid that snapped loudly when opened so miners in the midlands (which was a lot of working men at the time) started calling their lunch snap

Rebecca talking about north east language made me think about some east mids terms that I think the rest of britain should use: Nesh (adj) gets cold easily "I'm right nesh, I always need my big coat" Mardy (adj) In a strop, and complaining about it "he's been proper mardy ever since he lost that game, he needs to cheer up" Fuddle (n) picky bits, sort of like an indoor picnic It's a bit black over bills mother's (expression) I can see rain in the distance Nowt/Owt - nothing/anything "have you got some change I've got nowt on me right now" "sorry, I don't have owt right now" Duck (n) an informal term to call someone, usually for friends/family "ey up me duck! How's it going?" To mash (v) to make a cup of tea, specifically when leaving it to brew "do you want a cup of tea? I've got one mashing at the minute!"

Dan talking about Saint’s Row is why I adore Yakuza, especially 0. The main story can be as dramatic as you want it to be, but if you don’t have your main character having fun in the world and working off such crazy and zany side missions, it loses it.

I'll stand up for Rebecca in this case... I heard "Shy Bairns Get Nowt" but also helps that I'm Scottish and I'm used to people talking fast even although my auditory processing fucks up most of the time

I now kinda want to know what the reason was behind Rebecca and Daniel not talking for a while (I almost want to say ND person permanence…) but y’know I don’t want to pry. Also, Rebecca got a literal lol from us on the “we’ve been together for 10 years” thing. I’m honestly grateful for some of the things that both of you say because it does give us perspective or tweaks our perspective on things. It’s really helpful.
