What if you sculpted a green hill zone style loop the loop over the first bit of the go cart track that goes into the tunnel?

At 14:30 you mention the thing about ray tracing. The game has a Global Illumination setting, a close cousin of ray tracing, which is why PC2 had much nicer lighting indoors or in caves than the first game. It is pretty intensive so switching it off (or just turning it down) will give you a performance boost in my experience.
