Crowd Design - Creepy Cat
🕑 Added 2020-11-21 01:54:26 +0000 UTCDear Insane Children,
Yan is working with Jen on a new Plushie Dreadful design - Scruffy Bumps!
A prototype based on initial sketches by Jen arrived a few days ago:

There are several issues with the first pass which include:
1) He's too plump (round and fat). We want Slender Man-style creepy.
2) He's too happy. He's meant to be scary; not a furry Forest Gump.
3) His nose is wrong. Needs to be black and have a distinct shape.
4) His ears are too small and not pointy enough.
5) His eyes need more expression. More malice.
Speaking of Eyes
Which do you prefer? There are three choices:
A) Angry Open (main image above)
B) Scar Eye (image below)

Or
C) Slender Pupils (image below)

Let us know in the comments below which Eye style you prefer! A, B, or C!
And behold Yan's re-shaping edit...

This more or less captures the end goal we're heading towards.
Of this edit, Jen says, "Makes me think of something that would crawl up the walls and hang from the ceiling and wait for you to wake up and look up."
Again, let us know in the comments below what you think.
Is he scruffy, bumpy, and creepy enough?
A few other things to note: He's considerably larger than the rabbit plushes. And his feet and tail are filled with weight (sand) so they flop around more meaningfully. He'll also feature some sort of "Mysterious" or "Plushie Dreadful" brand label.
Yan and Jen are waiting for your feedback! Yay!

I'll be honest I hate the nose, all look better without it
It looks more as a kind of Muppet, rather as something associated with the Alice-series.
Loving B

Is there a way to see B and C together? As that could make for an interesting look potentially If not then my vote is for B
Love "C"

A. Feels creepier and more genuine when he does not have angry eyes.

I mean I'm sure even the Cheshire Cat wants some poker playing buddies right?

I actually prefer just the circle eyes, but maybe just smaller. Of all the new choices though, I'd choose A. I'd like to see the focus be on the shape and build, not just the eyes.

Love it
C Altho I must admit none of them work for me: if it isn't a Cheshire Cat, why make a cat at all!?
Anna Lepper
C looks spooky and really drives home the cat feel, but I also like the scar eye.
Plus, why can't his nose be colored? What if it was blood red, like from a fresh kill? Or no nose at all?
Definitely C. You know you're being watched-- targeted. Adds to the creep factor. Love that he's going to be bigger!!

Definitely B.

I love them all but i prefere c. ^^
I love option C
Option B is cool!

Slender Pupils. It makes the cat look more "old fashioned" what i like. I wouldn't give the eyes any color, just white it looks better with the black fur in my opinion.
B. Has to be.
RedBreloom
C all the way, the slender pupils look creepy. And The B scar doesn't really add to the look to me., just looks more gruff but... not nicely. Making the eyes orange or yellow would be super cool too. I'd definitely like to see colored eyes.

B... but without the scar, the shape of them is different to A and C... and I thought you were thinking about just not having a nose at all?
B

B is fiercer, but C is creepier
C for sure. π
I am not the best person to say what is scary in most cases cause I think scary things can be cute. However I asked my scardy cat boyfriend what he thought and he was quick to say C was the scariest eyes.
Definatey between choice b or choice c, but im leaning towards choice c for the asthetic of the slender eyes.
C. Lol
B - Angry eyes with the scar is the way to go!! Maybe make the eyes blood red with the scar to be a little angrier.
Erin Flower
C
Definitely need more anger in the eyes. Maybe a Red/Orange (fire) color. Spike or point at the end of the tail? Love it so far and I canβt wait to see how it transforms over timeπ
I'm loving option C

B, the scar eye

Tough call, I like C, though I like B as well and think either would work.
I like the scar eye
I like B
B scar eye! Also, how about the idea of claws??
Omg scar eye for sure!!
Daniel Athearn
I've got to go with B for the eyes, and I love the previously mentioned idea of no nose. Also the tail seems just too long compared to the legs.
Lucky Dragon βShe.Theyβ
There should be no nose at all. I donβt think the eyes need to be expressive either. A blank stare is creepier.
Looking back at the concept art, it might help with the overall shape to make the head and body one piece, kinda pear shaped, rather than having a neck. π€
Lady Charon
I like C, and the fat body looks cute to me.
B
B, cause with the scar eye it looks sinister. But body does look a lil plump
I agree with no nose, I didnt even notice it in the concept art which I think made it way creepier
thed4rkestrose
B I think
MeBonnieLass
B or C, hard choice between
C β€
A B C in that order. I also think NO nose would be better, would make it more creepy. A nose, even black, makes it a little more "Ahh, look at the little kitty cat" instead of "AHH! LOOK AT THE CREEPY AF CAT!"
I like the eyes on Yan's edit. I think it would help if the mouth stretched up close to the ears to give it that creepy unsettling look. I also think the fur should be longer and fluffier, this fur reminds me more of carpet. And his legs definitely need to be more noodly.
thed4rkestrose
Between B and C definitely
C
I like style C I think. I almost think he shouldn't have a mouth.. I for sure think the belly is too round. And maybe consider sand in the butt for sitting around creepily.

I like it! βAβ is probably my favorite style for the eyes; they feel empty, like they could swallow your soul after gazing into them for too long.
C! Proper cats eyes
The scar eye is adorable and I want it
This is adorable and I love it
