I like the idea that you’ve given. I could see Alice crying and pleading.. and maybe we could zoom in on a tear and follow it down and it show a bit of back story?

While the police might be "doing their job", are they aware of the backstory? If not, even if they see themselves as keeping the peace they are doing so in service of principles that are in themselves "evil", without question, and if they are not doing anything to protect Alice and the other children from injustice, then she, and by proxy we, would have every right to perceive them as evil. It shouldn't be too hard to construct a backstory in relation to the children, who haven't really got their wits about them in the first place, and wouldn't really have had that much exposure to anything but the walls of the asylum. They are bound to feel resentful, but would still see Alice as a guardian by proxy, because no-one else would be looking out for them. They would certainly miss her when she is gone. What an uncertain future. Maybe she did no more than withhold sweets from time to time, because she could see how much crazier the sugar made them

The picture would look good as print. Concept is good, curious how it will be developed in the game. Will we also see her struggle to find a (temporary) shelter? The old lady or the head prostitute could possible make a comeback (Although brief)?

I forget, is there a second floor in the orphanage? Because when reading the premise I instantly got this image: kids crowding along the banisters of the stairs leading to the second floor, looking above and through the bars (giving the impression of being caged?), while the scene with Alice and the police is taking place in the foreground on the first floor - her being escorted to the door and struggling against them. Radcliffe could be at the bottom of the stairs, blocking Alice from the rest of the children. Alice could be reaching out to him or the children. I really like the lighting and glowing in this sketch, though...

Would absolutely be down for a "public viewing" option into your workflow over on Monday.

Thank you for sharing a snippet of the process from Monday! What I was imagining from the initial description of this image was Alice laying at the bottom of a small set of stairs after being forcefully removed from the HFWC. She may have even hit her head, which could be used as a trigger to send us to Slumber briefly while she might be unconscious. This is where a bit of backstory could come in, where The Caterpillar might be helping Alice understand what is going on by asking rhetorical questions (which would be a sneaky way to deliver backstory to the player). I am fond of the way Omri wants to portray the officers though, because they really are just doing their job. Although I do recall in A:MR that there was a piece of the narrative where an officer lets on that he saw Alice faint and simply locked her up in a cell - this might be useful as an explanation for why the officers are acting in this manner: they honestly just don't care. Either way this image goes is looking like it will turn out well though, so cheers to that!

I like the idea and the initial sketch does capture it. I'd like to see more distance (almost a dreamlike exaggeration) between Alice at the bottom of the stairs/forefront and a more looming darkness of jabber etc at the top like a storm
