Among them, a particular titan, fearless and rebellious, waged war against even the mightiest gods, wielding chaos and disorder as its weapons.
This very titan, now trapped, whispers tales of rebellion and power from within the blade, his form twisted in an eternal dance of resistance and captivity, bound within a magnificent greatsword.
Chains of captivity, both physical and spectral, tell a story of celestial battle and eternal imprisonment with each swing of the sword. This isn't just a weapon; it's a story, an ancient narrative of restrained chaos, ready to be unleashed in your adventures.
The sword itself is an intricate dance of craftsmanship and impending doom, its blade illuminating flickers of the titan’s furious howls and silent screams, echoing to those who dare listen. Each swing, a mingling with the chained catastrophe, flirts with the anarchic spirit caged within.
As adventurers dare to take up this mysterious weapon, they entangle themselves with a spirit of ancient rebellion, a force that once threatened the gods, and perhaps, under certain circumstances, could do so again.
Who made this amazing weapon, and why? What could set the titan free, and would its freedom be a disaster or a blessing for the worlds it once sought to conquer?
The Titan Sword waits to be held by those brave enough to weave its cosmic story into their adventures, providing epic tales and potentially catastrophic stakes. 🗡️⛓️🔗

Titan Sword
Weapon (greatsword), artifact (requires attunement)
The Titan Sword encases a ghastly visage of a skeletal, muscle-bound titan, perpetually bound and howling in anguish within its shimmering silver blade. A silver handle adorned with exquisitely carved details and three chain links attached where the blade starts evoke a semblance of once being tightly chained.
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Dormant State.
While the Titan Sword is in a dormant state, you gain the following benefits:
- Your Strength score increases by 2, as does your maximum for that score.
- Once per long rest, as an action, you can summon ethereal chains from the sword, attempting to bind a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 14) or be restrained for 1 minute. The creature can make another Strength saving throw at the end of each of its turns to end the effect.
Awakened State.
When the Titan Sword reaches an awakened state, you gain the following benefits:
- Your Strength score and the maximum for that score each increase by 4 instead.
- The ethereal chains can now target up to three creatures within range.
- Once per long rest, you can use an action to unleash a harrowing scream from the bound titan, forcing all enemies within 20 feet to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 16) or be frightened until the end of your next turn.
Exalted State.
When the Titan Sword reaches its exalted state, you gain the following benefits:
- Your Strength score and the maximum for that score each increase by 6 instead.

- Once per long rest, you can use an action to partially unleash the bound titan. For 1 minute, your size becomes Huge, all non-magical clothing and armor you are wearing is destroyed, and any magical items you are wearing or carrying are safely placed on the ground at your feet. Your Titan Sword grows proportionally in size and you have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws. Your melee weapon attacks with the greatsword now deals 4d10 slashing damage instead of 2d6. When the duration ends, you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 16) or gain a short-term madness, as the screams of the titan linger in your mind, clouding your sanity with its relentless, chaotic anger.
Optional Evolution Stages for the Titan Sword.
- Dormant: Levels 1-8, or upon proving your strength by besting a formidable foe in single combat without assistance.
- Awakened: Levels 9-15, or after breaking unbreakable chains during a moment of dire need in a heroic feat of strength.
- Exalted: Levels 16-20, or after freeing a being of great power from undeserved, eternal imprisonment.
Sentient. The Titan Sword is a sentient chaotic neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 16, a Wisdom of 12, and a Charisma of 18. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. The weapon can communicate by transmitting emotion to the creature carrying or wielding it and can speak, read, and understand Common.
Personality. The Titan Sword's sentience is the bound titan itself, a once-mighty being from a distant plane, now eternally imprisoned within the blade. The titan bitterly resents its captors and those who dare to wield it. Its purpose is singular: to escape its imprisonment, and it will seek to manipulate its wielder into actions or plots that it believes may bring about its release.
Curse of the Titan. Whenever you finish a long rest while attuned to the Titan Sword, you experience visions of apocalyptic battles and whispered promises of unstoppable power from the imprisoned titan. These dreams subtly seed the mind with a gentle inclination towards chaos and rebellion, though they don’t prevent the benefits of a long rest unless you willingly embrace the titan's whispers, choosing power over sanity.
If your alignment is not chaotic, each time you finish a long rest, you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 18). On a failure, you gain a Chaos Point. If you accumulate 10 Chaos Points, your alignment shifts one step towards chaotic (from lawful to neutral, from neutral to chaotic). Once your alignment becomes chaotic, you no longer accrue Chaos Points from this curse.
If you die while attuned to the Titan Sword, your spirit is not automatically absorbed. Instead, the titan within proposes a dark pact: be reborn through its chaotic power in exchange for aiding in its release. If accepted, your spirit and the titan become entwined, sharing a portion of its chaotic
essence with you and resurrecting you with a spark of its dark power. If rejected, your spirit is
free to pass into the afterlife, but the sword remembers, and your soul forever carries a spectral chain, a quiet reminder in the afterlife of the pact you denied.
Releasing the Titan. Should the whispers and promises of the titan entice a wielder enough, they may seek to free the tortured spirit from its ethereal prison within the Titan Sword. Releasing the titan is a cataclysmic event, wrought with devastation and chaos. To do so requires the completion of a dark and ancient ritual known only to the most learned or corrupt scholars, involving several artifacts of immense power and a location where the veil between realms is at its thinnest.
The Imprisoned Titan (CR 26). When released, the titan emerges as a behemoth of pure, chaotic might, its form barely containing the violent energies swirling within it. The landscape itself seems to rebel in its presence, with the ground quaking and the skies darkening, signaling an imminent, catastrophic eruption of anarchic power.
As for its specific abilities and features, the exact nature of the titan, its capabilities, and strategies should be crafted by the GM, to best fit their campaign and challenge their players.
Optional Legendary Actions.
The titan can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The titan regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
- Titanic Stomp (Costs 1 Action). The titan slams its foot down, causing a seismic shockwave. Each creature within 120 feet of the titan must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 25) or take 22 (4d10) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone.
- Crush (Costs 2 Actions). The titan attempts to grab and crush a creature it can see within reach. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC 25) or be grappled. While grappled in this way, the creature takes 32 (5d12) bludgeoning damage at the start of each of its turns.
- Imprisoning Chain (Costs 2 Actions). The titan sends forth one of its ethereal chains to bind a creature it can see within 120 feet. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 25 ) or be restrained. While restrained in this way, the creature takes 27 (6d8) psychic damage at the start of each of its turns.
