Once in a while I rewatch the whole Fiero series. I just finished it and wanted to say I'll be waiting for the Datsun series next.

I think you’re an inspiration to all aspiring handy people. Young and old. Thank you.

I love these updates. Thanks for taking the time to make this. By the by, I’m from Houston too. Haven’t lived there in over thirty years. But you never forget the heat & humidity.

I missed the Fiero. Welcome back!

Great Joe
Next time you gotta do finagly wire snaking: Lanolin. It's stinky stuff, but it greases wires up great for snaking through close quarters. Even works for getting wires through those terribly sticky rubber boots for car door wiring. I'd also recommend investing in a spring of some sort. Next time.

Good to see the Fiero again, Ronald. Hope you get the air con fixed soon.

Still (patiently) waiting for the YouTube link to return so I can watch this on a proper TV.

Totally forgot that the heat shielding was your work from the restoration. Absolutely my mistake -- I assumed it was factory. It does seem like heat shielding there is a wise investment in effort so I agree with your initial inclination to protect it. I'd also be a little nervous about the crimp connection on the smaller wire and water working its way into that joint. Especially given how much water works its way into the battery area as shown earlier in the video. Or was that a water-tight heat shrink connector? BTW, I absolutely love your work on all your projects. My comments here are provided out of appreciation and total respect for what you are doing -- and for the collective love of that little Fiero.

I installed the copious amount of heat shielding back when I had the engine out of the car 😅 I definitely think it was overkill, plus the new routing has it a little farther from the exhaust. Getting more split loom installed probably would’ve been a good idea though

I saw that. I was just hoping I was mistaken and the red wire I saw was coming from the fuse box. I'd be putting red tape or cover on the positive and black tape on the negative.

Just going to ignore the copious amounts of heat shielding on the old cable (especially near the exhaust) and long plastic sleeve (to protect against abrasion and shorting out) and leave the new cable bare? I didn't think so.

Fantastic to see the Fiero again. Love that car. I do really hate electrical problems tough. I have a Vespa that had me stranded now two times. Once I also had a bad battery cable. Second time the voltage regulator shattered itself. Burned out all light bulbs and destroyed the battery. Fun times 🙂. Great to see it fixed, I can relate to the feeling that it’s nice to have a machine just start and work. Even if it’s the most basic thing it should do.

Anyone else look at the time stamp when he goes to start it "hopefully it just starts right up" and thinking...hmm, could go either way. In hindsight, I don't think he would have resolved anything within two minutes, but you know he did that on purpose to create suspense...although he probably didn't know but was thinking, "Is this a 7 minute video? or a 15 minute video? "
Ronald Finger
Me too! It's actually worse than that though. The negative wire, for whatever reason, is the one that's red. 🫠

Love the video. Glad to see the fiero. My ocd is upset the new wire isn't red though.

Looking forward to more garage videos too. I like your renovation projects.

I was wondering the same! Last I knew the system was vacuumed and fully recharged. Ice cold.

that Fiero literally saved my life. I'm not kidding. The video series came out in a rather dark time in my days. I was absolutely transfixed. So much so that I immediately started looking for my own. I eventually found an '86 GT (that, regretably, will probably be a parts car) and a couple years later an '86 SE V6, which I've actually been driving. I was able to focus a lot of my negative days into working on one or both of the cars. I wasn't thinking about the bad, I was just focused on getting these working. If it hadn't been for this series, honestly....I don't know how things would have ended up.
Ronald Finger
The system has a super slow leak, and I'm 90% sure it's due to the original rubber hoses. I replaced every single o-ring and seal for all of the fittings, but there's a really good chance the crimp connections just aren't holding any longer. Nothing that some new lines shouldn't fix, but they'll have to all be custom made 😭

Good Job with the upkeep of your Fiero project. Amen to the comment regarding the heat in Texas. I am in central Texas and our humidity isn’t anything compared to Houston area. We were in Pearland this weekend and i don’t envy your humidity and heat. As to cars without AC, My first car was a 1976 AMC pacer. No AC and all effing windows (not tinted) let’s talk about hot in the summer. Pet your little calico for me.
Chance Willeford
What caused the AC to fail?

Always a good feeling when you successfully fix a problem... Keep that Fiero running!!!

Sneaky camera work to make sure the progress on the garage isn't seen 😂 Glad that the old girl is still rolling along and will confess that your GPZ series has made me start my second bike restoration

I'm so emotionally invested in that Fiero :)
