280Z Dyno Testing!
🕑 Added 2025-03-06 16:45:13 +0000 UTCBefore this thing goes under the knife for modernization upgrades, I wanted to get a baseline for how it’s performing now.
It came out to a whopping 125 horsepower, or 93 kilowatts. Not bad for a 47 year old engine! But also not good for what’s supposed to be a sports car 😅
It won't be to long before the engine is out of the car and cleaned up!

125 whp is probably the limit of what I’d consider safe on those skinny old tyres.

Not too far from the stock 170! I think the updated EFI system will help free up some horses, as well as a general cleaning/honing of the engine block and head. Can’t wait for this project!

okay, that was wicked cool!

That is not bad at all, especially for a car that sat for a long time. I think new piston rings and some relapped valve seats will do the trick to free up some more horsepower.

Those numbers aren't too bad! Can't wait to see what your modernized z does!

That's a lot less escaped ponies than I thought. Looking forward to this and to see you dip you toe back into two wheels. That electric Triumph sounds like a right challenge

I can barely wait to watch the engine series! 😁

The power is relative…you have to look a weight (lbs or kg) per HP. Then it won’t look to bad I think. Cars nowadays are much heavier.

Honestly more than I expected lol nice

An all-motor ITB build would be awesome 👀 it's what I want to do with my 635csi once it's back on the road.
