The only thing that's off limits generally is cases that have been saturated. Like OJ for example. Other then that. There's nothing really off limits.

You talk about Snowtown a lot as being really hard for you to do, so I'm wondering if there are other cases that you've looked at, deemed too much, and decided to pass on. Is there any case that's off limits to you guys? Any cases you don't want to do?

Yep. Currently over 400 on the lair and growing daily. It's hard to explain. There's nothing specific that determines that. But you'll just be looking at a case and something about will grab you. And that's how it's done usually. Nothing to scientific about it.

I presume there are a lot of cases the team would like to cover. How are cases prioritized? Are there any overarching themes the team is looking to achieve or guiding principles in your case selection?

Do you ever get families of the victims or those involved in the case contacting you after an episode has aired - to offer further insight or offering to be interviewed?

In one case yes. The others no.

No thankfully that hasn't happened yet. But yes the level of detail can be difficult. You do need to walk away at times especially with cases like Snowtown.

I'm curious if anyone involved in the show has ever come across a picture or case that is too difficult to cover. With the amount of research that goes into each episode, it seems that it would be easy to become overwhelmed.

No I don't think that was ever clear. By the way that videographer just want on a rant about us saying how we accused HIM of being the one not to hand the tape over. He was responding to. A you tube comment. Neither of them listened to the episode obviously. As we were quite clear the videographer handed it over straight away.

With the Amy Lynn Bradley case, did they ever uncover WHY the man (forgive me for not remembering his name right now) never gave them the VHS that the videographer had given him?

Yeah it was the most taxing. Longest. Getting the scripts right and flowing. But worth it.

It's just dive in and don't stop digging. Depends on the case. It could be anywhere from talking to police to survivors/families. Visiting libraries and newspaper archives. To doing any number of other things.

No I wouldn't say it's been taxing mentally. It's always been in unsolved cases - so we are Just happy to do whatever we can to help. However small it may be.

Would you say recording the EAR/ONS episodes was the most difficult you have had to do so far? P.S. I thought it was very respectful to the victims the way you covered all of his crimes

Actually to answer your question. I'd say EARONS. Was happy we were able to present all of that information on such a long standing major unsolved case. It wasn't for everyone and it was information overload for some - but I wouldn't have done it any other way. I think it was important to dive deep into that one.

Has speaking to a family member or friend of a victim/survivor ever stuck with you? I'd imagine they can be taxing mentally sometimes.

For a one hour stand alone. 1-2 weeks minimum. You are right they are very intensive to put together. The research and writing takes an incredibly long time. So we are never really on a 'break' when there's no episode. It just means we couldn't get one done in time.

I don't really have any questions this month, I just want to say how much I loved the Anita Cobby episode. The way the Casefile team helped us understand what was happening with John for years to come, as well as going into the trial really added to the episode. I feel like Casefile really respects the victims and survivors.

I personally prefer diving into unsolved cases. In saying that - there are some important solved cases to tell as well.

Yes it is very difficult to say. There could indeed just be a simple explanation for it. Being in the middle of the ocean on a boat - a lot of things could happen. Just feel bad for the family never knowing.

Thanks :) But it's more like one long episode broken up into three parts. But it's not one I think will really suit being spread out over three weeks. So we are going to release it all once. It's more a slow building one that builds up as it goes along.

This case has eaten at my brain for years. I flip flop every so often. Did she fall victim to someone? Is there a more simple explanation? I don't know.

Yeah. I don't like making speculative guesses on the information that is hand. In order to say definitely what I feel I'd want a look at the police file. Everyone's statements/interviews all of the evidence. Which obviously - is never going to happen.

With yourself staying anonymous, and you being nominated for awards and such, do you ever just wish once you could be involved with the reception of the award? Rather than staying behind the scenes? It must be hard to remain anonymous with all the attention your podcast has been receiving.

So things are changing from now on in the casefile camp. Some inside Patreon info for you all. There won't be an episode until September 16th. But it will be a three parter - but all three parts released at once. From then on they plan is to have an episode pretty much once per week to close out the year. That's the plan. And we are working really hard right now to make that happen. So we aren't off taking a break. We are trying to make things so that there will be regular episodes from now till the end of the year!
