🕑 Added 2017-09-13 07:40:07 +0000 UTC Good news and bad news.Sometimes the best laid plans don't quite pan out. This is one of those times. After spending months planning our new patreon reward tiers, and implementing them only last week - we have to change one.
The early release episodes. We can no longer offer them here, as we have just signed a deal elsewhere for early release (NOTE: the early release episodes WILL NOT be behind a pay wall). The deal takes us until the end of this year and we will re assess after that. This deal was offered to us literally 2 days after we updated our patreon, and we have managed to come to an agreement today. Apologies for the stuff around.
So what we have done, is deleted the $10 tier, and pushed those perks down to the $5 level. So at $5 you get ad free episodes still - just not early. You get behind the scenes episodes and bonus episodes and the recorded AMA.
There is no $10 tier anymore. It's gone. If you are on the $10 level - please change your pledge down to $5. It does not do it automatically. You have to do it manually, even though the tier level is deleted. You have until the end of the month to do so.
No one has been billed for this month yet, that doesn't happen until the first of next month, so anyone whole pledged $5 for the sole purpose of early release - if you aren't happy you can lower your pledge or cancel altogether and you won't be charged.
Re bonus content;
Patreon minisode 1 currently in production for release later this month.
Behind the scenes of case 60 will be released later this month.
Recorded AMA with Mike, Anna and myself will be released later this month.
So the bonus content is definitely happening, and it is now happening at $5.

Thanks for the tip Matt - I listen on the go so sitting at my computer is not going to work but I appreciate the information - I'm happy enough to wait for the episodes in my usual app :)

Bernadette - just go to tunein.com/casefile on a desktop computer and it shows all the episodes. I do run an ad blocker but I didn't get any pop ups or anything. I could listen to all the episodes on there without any kind of sign up. Piece of piss as we say in Yorkshire, which means the same as easy as pie.

Sorry to hear about your negative experience. But I can assure you and anyone reading this that it is a simple process. Download the free app and there is no sign up or details required. Hit the X at the top left when the screen comes up asking you if you want to upgrade to pro. And that's it. You're in. Can listen to the episode easy.

My experience was several months ago...I have no intention of re-downloading anything to do with TuneIn after taking so much trouble to extricate myself from their clutches so not going to try again. I will wait patiently for my CaseFile episodes.

Hi Bernadette. This is the first I've heard of this. I'm not sure what you did exactly - but I downloaded the free version of the tune in app - not the pro version. A screen did come up wanting me to sign up to pro - but I simply hit the x at the top left. That screen went away and Im in the app. Easily found casefile and could play the episode for free. No issues at all. No credit card details required. No sign up required. I didn't have to enter any information at all. I have tried on multiple devices and got the same result on each one. You may have downloaded the pro version? There is two versions of the app. Make sure it is the free version you downloaded.

I understand that you guys have to make money and try all sorts of options for that but it is s little disingenuous to say that you don't have to sign up for the premium options for TuneIn to get early access to the podcast episodes. It is impossible to sign up for any version of Tune In - even a free trial - without giving your credit card details and opting out of the auto payment is actually quite difficult (I have done it but had to go to sites other than Tune In's own for instructions and I had to be quite determined).

I agree, if its all the same, I would like to keep contributing $10 each month. It was nice getting the early items, but I look forward to hearing the podcast more than anything else, and I greatly appreciate all the hard work that goes into making them.

I really liked the written scripts of the episodes, with maps and photos. Perhaps in the future, if circumstances allow, those can come back. Will you still be able to post photos, maps, links to sources, and other visuals? I'm also staying at $10. I can't afford the $25 but I'm concerned about what would happen if everyone switched to $5!

I'd say this is possible because I've been pledging an amount that was not a standard tier until the recent change. You'll just be counted as a $5 tier Patron in this case though. P.S. I don't know if you really did not get an answer or my Patreon app is updating the comments late (which often happens, especially during AMAs) so I'm responding regardless. Ignore if you already got a response. :)
