Case 114: Elisa Claps & Heather Barnett
🕑 Added 2019-06-10 07:57:42 +0000 UTCBack in Potenza, Elisa Claps dressed in blue trousers, a white sweater knitted by her mother, and her trademark thin-rimmed designer glasses. She kept her thick dark hair out and flowing below her shoulders. The bubbly teenager was popular amongst her peers, who were drawn to her warm smile, sense of humour, and kind-hearted personality.

But why?
Casefile True Crime
During perjury trial, she was cleared (with Eris Gega) as the judge determined that her comments were made out of fear, it was mentioned after the verdict.

What happened with the female friend that Elisa went to the church with? In the episode it makes it a point to cast a suspicious light on her and she made that weird comment during a phoney phone call to her mom too.

I love listening to these but man sometimes I just feel so much anger afterwards. This one especially for some reason. Just the combination of the church BS and this cold blooded killer who almost surely killed more throughout the years just sickens me. I honestly don't understand it like I've done some things in my life I'm not proud of but how can you go on living a normal life after doing something that destroys other people's lives forever? How is that even possible?

Super long episode, thank you guys.

Ugh. How tragic and terrible. Great episode but just terrible, the lives of many people so deeply affected.

This was a good episode although I feel a bit awkward saying something so tragic is good. I will say well done and an interesting case

That was clumsily put. Sorry. Just mix them up a bit, male/female perp/victim. I know you are better than most podcasts at this.
HelpFind Ajax&Stamp
In general, please look at cases involving male victims. I know you have done them, but it can seem like mosy women are victims, sometimes.

It shows again how a killer could have been caught early before he killed again. If he had been my son, I would have handed the monster over to the police myself. The church also has to take the blame, covering up too many crimes.

I had exactly the same thought while listening. Other than that, an excellent episode.

Fascinating case! One comment - around 38-39 minutes Casey says something about a reference book "blood on the altar" which sort of gives the game away slightly, might be worth editing that bit out. Otherwise, really interesting how the 2 seemingly different cases ended up.

Well this was intriguing! I knew the Heather Barnett part of the case, but had no idea of the link to Elisa.
