So glad you covered this case - it’s actually my all time favourite unsolved case! Another case from Japan that would be great to cover is the murder of Junko Furuta - absolutely brutal

I can't say much because this case has me thinking deeply about it. The awful possibility is, that the killer met has his own end by now, maybe in a disaster or accident. But someone always knows something, so maybe information will turn up to solve this tragic case.

This episode really brought home to me why Casefile is so special. I consume a lot of true crime media, and at times I have needed to press pause and grapple with moral questions about why I am interested in it. And Casefile is one of very few shows of any type where I have never had to ask myself about that because I readily identify emotionally with the victims and actually feel about them as I would feel about somebody I had met before and knew was real. The research, production, writing, and presentation is so skillful and so unimposing. It's like watching a story through a camera, not hearing somebody explain to you why you should be having feelings about something, which is the feeling I always get when a presenter talks to me like they're my buddy, or like "isn't this awful??", or even worse the ones where they are like, clearly reveling in lurid descriptions of the crimes. Just sayin, wow! It's the only podcast I have ever chosen not to listen to while working because it seems dismissive to listen without at least 80% of my attention. And especially during covid times, it's like a special treat when a new one comes out. Thanks so much to the whole team.

Such a good episode otherwise. I love it when you can ‘take me there’ the society/community where the crime took place. That did not end the way I thought it was going to 😭😭😭

Unsolved murders are the hardest for me to listen to. I cannot imagine what it’s like to be a relative who has lost a loved one to such brutality and still have no answers after all of these years. I almost made it through without crying until the part about the detective that has kept in touch with the mother and makes her meals. 😭😭😭
