Similar to what Stefan asked above, for both Casefile and Vikki. Have you ever felt inclined to focus on the social justice aspects of a case eg race, disability or sexuality?? Has that changed especially as the world has a better understanding of how society can impact a person’s life disproportionately??

Michael Brodie

Your book on the Frankston serial killer was excellent. Have you ever come across any other true crime authors who, by simple happenstance, found themselves so close to the unfolding events? Did it affect you? It must have been emotionally demanding having seen things from your perspective.

Michael Brodie

Hello Vikki,

Andi

Vikki, how do you go about researching a case when you meet obstacles, such police or family not wanting to cooperate with you? How soon after a crime has been committed do you typically begin your research? Do you find people are generally cooperative (police, medical etc. and witnesses)?

Fräulein Mánn-schaft

Hi Vikki, who do YOU think killed Beth Barnard?

Maya George

I have a question for Vikki, please. Vikki has written a lot of true crime and I was wondering if the fact it’s based in ‘real life’ and has people that you can meet and talk to is what draws her to it?? and conversely, does she any interest in writing fiction stories?? :)

Stefan Bradley

Hi Casey and Vikki! 1. How’s Melbourne lockdown been treating you Vikki? 2. Any exclusive goss on *both* your podcast projects Vikki? 3. Since the murder of George Floyd, both fictional and non-fictional media have re-examined their depictions of race and the police. Has Casefile made any such considerations for the show going forward - such as changes to writing or covering police brutality cases? Let’s be real, much of True Crime does depict cops as the heroes of the day rightly or wrongly. I’m not trying to be political or express judgement on anyone, just curious about your thoughts!

Hi Casey and the team, thanks so much for your brilliant work. My question for Vikki is ‘A book is a huge commitment, how do you go about choosing the case/subject and have you had to abandon any planned publications for any reason?’

Amanda Lewis

Hi Casey & CaseFile team 😊 long time listener and lover of the podcast, I don’t have a question for vikki... but I just wanted to use this opportunity to say I’ve listen to every podcast and read pretty much everything you have every written. The way you speak about your cases, and not only the cases but the families, and all the other parts that go with that particular crime that the average person would not of been aware of without your voice is amazing. You are truely an incredible lady with an amazing story and we are all great full for you sharing this with us. 🥰
