Case 178: The Woman Without a Face

This was amazing, totally unexpected. I agree with the previous comment also, an episode about the NSU would be epic.

Great episode again team. Interesting discussion about DNA complications. Must be the week for it. Andrew Rule (Life and Crimes) released an excellent podcast episode as well.

Absolutely insane story. I can't believe it would have taken so long to even look into a contamination issue. And the NSU even existing is terrifying, let alone the fact they decided they needed to get credit for the murder of the police officer after getting away. Thank you for bringing out such an incredible story!

I knew who "the woman without a face" was right from the beginning - I'm from Germany - still it was an interesting listen. I think the episode was a bit all over the place, which is probably just because the story and reality itself was all over the place back then. Still I think the NSU could fill a single episode easily. The German police once again being found in bed with Neonazis and either being wilfully stupid about their crimes or really too incompetent to solve them, should have been a much bigger story back then. The DNA mix up is also bad, but at least that you can apply to ignorance, not malice.
