What do you guys think of the Zodiac hoax theory? The argument, which I once heard on an ep of Gen Why (https://podcasts.apple.com/ro/podcast/the-zodiac-killer-hoax-of-1986/id541481026?i=1000359097882) is that the killings weren't all done by the same person, but that the Zodiac letters were all written by Robert Graysmith. (I don't really buy it, personally, but isn't it wild! I also do think the idea that the Zodiac didn't exist and different killers did different crimes is one that always deserves more attention.)

Hope this isn’t too late! Casey and team who do you think was the Zodiac? For me Arthur Lee Allen seems likely with all that evidence, especially the fact that it stopped after he died and stopped when he was in jail.

There are internet theories that the Zodiac is connected to the Monster of Florence… I personally find a lot of similarities with the Texarkana “Moonlight” killer. Any thoughts?

I don't have any questions, but just wanted to say that you all did an excellent job with this one! I've listened to several podcasts and watched many a documentary on the Zodiac, and I have to say, this was probably the most thorough telling of the case I've heard. Great job!

I have an (unsupported) theory that Paul Stine was an accomplice, and his murder (which didn't fit his previous modus operandi) was to tie up loose ends before ending his most dangerous game.

Why on earth would the zodiac killer travel all the way to the city (SF) to commit the fifth confirmed murder? Vallejo/Napa/Benicia in the 60s are small quiet towns. He commits murders on the edge of civilization in two neighboring counties, targeting couples. Then he crosses THREE counties, two bridges to a large city to commit the last on a single male in a busy city? How does this fit the profile?

Congratulations on wrestling a complicated case into 4 parts! For myself, I missed the usual detailed focus on the victims & who they were as people in your treatment of this case, but I accept it’s difficult with a serial killer from the 1960’s. I was also frustrated about the lack of DNA evidence linking Allen to any of the murders. The circumstantial evidence was impressive - do the police really not have ANY DNA from any of the multiple victims to test in 2022? Why are the police so reticent? Is it because they are embarrassed by their bungling of the investigation or because of a cover-up? Well done all. From your fan in York, North Yorkshire, England.

I noticed the narration of the setting (time and place) for each attack was altered to seemingly have a lower fidelity than the rest of the audio. I'm just curious about the decision to set it apart like that since I don't remember that being done in past episodes. Thoughts?

It wasn't clear to me why the police aren't processing and genetically tracing the DNA that they have. To say that they need to devote resources to current cases doesn't make sense, since to solve this case would be huge.
