As someone who lives with suicidal ideation, here's a tip about depression and feelings of hopelessness: it's always worse at night. If it's dark outside and you feel like you might harm yourself, get on voice chat or FaceTime with a friend who'll sit with you until sunrise. When you're feeling better, make a crisis plan with friends and family. Who will you contact when you need help? What will they help you do to stay safe? Once you're out of danger, which doctors or other medical professionals will you contact? It's normal to be sad and it's also normal to have the desire to escape a very bad situation. You are not bad or a burden or a downer. We love you and we want you to stay.

He is vile, but his nurse wife standing by him and accepting his "sexual fetish" is also disturbing. It's irrelevant if it's sexually motivated - he is a murderer and a sociopath.

This case ihit really close to home personally. I feel the pain from those left behind to deal with the aftermath. As to Mark, I don’t understand how he virtually got off with such a light sentence. What he did, encouraging, aiding and pursuing this for his own twisted joy is reprehensible. I really hope there’s karma when he leaves this world and he held fully accountable for his actions. How he was even a nurse baffled me, if his actions during his employment is unbelievable, but to only penalise him and not strike him ever being a nurse ever really raises questions with the medical board. There should definitely be more people like Cecelia in this world.

Hi, I’m so sorry for your loss. They are very respectful about your friend, (of course it’s Casefile) but I 100% understand as I have family members who have been both victims and perpetrators, and hearing it distilled by others is a very different experience. The impact on your personal narrative can be impacted without your control and that is scary. You may find some new information but my big takeaway is that even though Nadia was a victim she never gave her abuser the satisfaction of watching or following his preferred means, keeping her autonomy at her end. I don’t know if that comforts you but I admire her for breaking from his influence in that way, despite the horrible outcome. Sending love and peace to you and Nadia’s friends and family.

Nadia and I were in the same year at the same school, in residences two buildings apart, and I knew her roommate from frosh week. I want to listen to this episode but I don't know... I know it's totally subjective and depends on who's listening, but is anyone able to let me know if it's a really tough listen?
