Case 279: Zebb Quinn
🕑 Added 2024-04-06 07:44:12 +0000 UTCIn early January 2000, residents of Asheville, North Carolina were told to be on the lookout for 18-year-old Zebb Quinn after he failed to return home after finishing his shift at Wal-Mart. A co-worker of Zebbβs, Robert Jason Owens, claimed that Zebb had sped off after receiving a mysterious message on his pager.
Two weeks later, an unexpected breakthrough in the case presents some bizarre clues. But as twist after twist emerges, the prevailing question remains - did Zebb Quinn leave of his own accord, or was he the victim of foul play?

Accusation?? Criticise?? Did you see my QUESTION? It follows a completely factual statement, and I am interested in whether they are responding to OUR biases. I understand that many people like to accept everything without thinking ... while others demand that people not think and question.

Never heard of this one before. Tremendously sad loss of life, Zebb. Side note, my heart broke when describing Zebbs dog wimpering for him at his chair.

i thought i knew this case and turns out i didn't know the HALF, well done as always

I would imagine it's a mix of most crimes being drug and/or gang related and therefore not falling as easily into the arena of the true crime genre, and the factor of the audience (meaning a general true crime audience) for whatever reason being less interested in those crimes than they are in something that's more of a mystery. That said Casefile makes everything interesting!

Good to see a male victim featured. Given that 80% of murder victims in the US are male, and 70% in Australia and England, I have to wonder why only about 30% of cases here feature male victims. Does that speak to the biases of the listeners or of the presenters?
