all this mayhem and a clear livewire killer and yet i think the people i'm maddest at in this whole episode are the Women's Society for removing Carol's name from their honorees. Way to murder her twice!!!!!! great episode, Casefile! I think the only true part of Lynn's confession was the part where he talked about his motivations for the cover-up, and how much of it centered around losing his status and his reputation among his clubs. It really illustrated to me that saying that to a narcissist, the death of the ego is worse than actual death.

I did a week-long solo hike last winter starting at Howitt Plains - there’s heaps of graffiti in the drop toilets at the trailhead, and in the intentions books, purporting to be from the button man. Much of it’s eerie and talks about him watching you and so on. But within the hiking community he’s seen as being harmless and unfortunately maligned. It seems like one of those instances where some slightly standoffish or odd-seeming bloke creeped a few people out (maybe intentionally, maybe not) and it’s been mythologised into a scary mountain story. I really feel for the guy
