A brief hiatus

I have a bit of news - I'm taking a month off. I'll get into why momentarily but the most important bit of news for patrons is that I have paused the billing cycle so you will not be charged for February. Patron contributions will resume in March, when I make my return.
It's a tricky (and somewhat scary) decision to put a channel on hiatus for a whole month. Maintaining momentum is really important when making video online, as is checking in with the community.
That said, I am simply a bit burned out at the moment. I was hoping for a good reset over the festive break last year but between the dog being sick and some other stresses, it didn't really happen. Over the past month my partner has also been quite unwell, which has been scary and draining for the both of us (especially them).
A friend asked me yesterday when I last took more than two weeks off work in a row. I realised the answer to that question is 2008, which on balance probably isn't great. So that's the long and short of it - sorry to make myself absent from your screens, but it really does feel like the best decision. I'll still be around on the discord in dribs and drabs but other than that, I will see you in March.

There's something I learned a few years back while I was working on my doctorate: You have to take time out to take care of you. If you need to put things down so you can breathe, that's totally okay. A healthier, authentic you is more important than the you that other people see. You, Watson, and your partner - y'all be sure hug and love each other during this time, yeah? After that time's up, continue to love & hug each other like nobody's watching. Yeah, 2008 for your last significant break is not great. Please take as much time as you need and remember there is a good base of people who will be with you no matter what. Hi Johnny, I'd like to echo other people in the offers to continue to our donations. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and your family, but I don't make my contributions expecting an interruptable service model in return, I do it to support your work and your content. Supporting art is what a patron is supposed to do after all. :) We all go through difficult times, so if I can ask for anything, it's somewhere where those of us who don't mind, can make a voluntary donation to help whilst you're away. Kindness shouldn't come with strings or expectations and I'd rather know that you didn't have to worry about financial things right now and you were focused on the things that really matter.
