Content Update Schedule
🕑 Added 2020-03-18 22:23:38 +0000 UTCHey, guys! To avoid creating a very unhealthy schedule for myself that would lead to the same disastrous outcome as before, I'd like to discuss a few options that I've been considering and see which you would like for me to adopt.
Monthly
This was the old content update schedule. If you've read my FA journal about my disappearance, you will know the problems that were caused by this. If I were to attempt this again, it would have to be with the understanding that the amount of content in each update may vary greatly. I will work as much as is reasonable every month to put out new stuff for you guys to enjoy but given the unpredictable nature of development it won't always translate into the same amount of stuff each time. I was very hung up on that before, to the detriment of my health, so I think it unwise to hold myself to that anymore. Selfishly, if you are okay with that, this is probably the best option for me, personally, because from what I've been told, Patreon has now made it so patrons who sign up on a monthly cycle will be billed immediately. One of the biggest issues I had to contend with back in the day was people would sign up as a patron, see the patron-only posts or skim it with bots, and then cancel their pledge so they could get all the benefits of a patron but not pay a cent. I've been told that per creation Patreons still don't have any protection against that. If, for some reason, I am unable to work on FLW for the majority of a month, Patreon seems to have an option to freeze the account temporarily, (would have been handy in the past) which I will use for months where a build wouldn't be forthcoming.
Per Creation (Small)
This would be an update schedule where builds come out whenever they're ready but they will be smaller updates than what you were used to in the past. Given that the amount of content I felt obligated to provide each update in the past proved to be extremely problematic, these would likely be around 2/3rds the size of the updates you are used to. On the plus side, these updates can come faster than a strict one month update schedule so you would get smaller chunks slightly more frequently. You could likely expect a build to take anywhere from a few weeks to a month. If we go ahead with this schedule, I would request that you set your max pledge per month to be twice what you are willing to pledge per creation since there may be instances where 2 builds come out at the beginning and the end of the same month.
Per Creation (Regular)
This would be an update schedule where builds come out whenever they're ready and be roughly the same size as the updates you're used to. These updates will, obviously, be further apart than the smaller option. Given that this means it will take much more than a month to get a build out, I will need to prioritize my other jobs over working on the VN in order to pay the bills as they are freelance work and any time I spend on FLW is time I can't spend on them. Given that, you can expect these updates to be at least 2 months apart, likely more. This is by far the slowest option with the least amount of work done on FLW per month, but it's more economical for patrons who will get more for their money.

I would love per creations but it also remove the security of your income.

Monthly almost makes it easier for Patron to budget.

I will always have the preference to monthly, it should give you some security about your income. No need to set strong targets like having a build each month, the build is ready when it is :)
