Shareholder Report 2023/10
🕑 Added 2023-10-23 07:38:47 +0000 UTCHi everyone,
It's time for another monthly Shareholder Report.
First of all, I have to say that my month so far has been a bit chaotic as my daughter got hospitalized at the beginning of the month, and I've been able to work only part-time, and my mind has been a bit unfocused. Fortunately, things are under control, but I cannot say when they return to normal.
Here at Miska's Maps office, we've been working on new maps, but because of the above reason, my part in Foundry updates has suffered. I'm going to keep on working on those as time allows.
But let's get to this month's news & announcements.
September's Releases
In September, we released four new maps.
- "Euripides" Smuggling Submarine [402]
- Street Intersection Encounter [401]
- Wellspring Metro Station [397]
- Watson Bodega [395]
Planned Releases for October
For October, we have made two maps, and more are on the way.
- Blood Sport Arena
- Rogue AI Mainframe
- TBD
- TBD
Foundry VTT Support Status
As mentioned before, Foundry updates are lagging. I apologize for this. There have been several setbacks lately, and things have not moved forward as they should have.
My goal was to have all the scenes updated for v11 and the missing scenes to be done, but this did not go as planned. However, these are my number one priority right after the new map pack releases.
IMPORTANT: Reward Updates Coming Soon
In short, we are going to streamline our map-making and release process. For the past 2-3 months, we've been increasing our map output over all our projects, and I've been keeping a record of the time each release takes. Lately, I've been spending almost a week preparing the map packs for the month’s releases. In other words, after the map is made, it takes nearly half a day, sometimes even more, to prep all the map pack’s files for release. This used to take an hour or less, but over time, the whole process has grown too convoluted, and I think that this time could be spent elsewhere and with better value to you.
To make our process more focused and sustainable, we must simplify how we work. This means we must drop some currently supported file types to make this possible.
- We will focus on JPG files as the distributed file type for the map packs. (Webp files will be included in the Foundry modules)
- PNG map tiles and assets and Dungeondraft custom assets will remain available, but they are no longer part of guaranteed releases. We continue to make our own assets (props, tiles, etc), which will be released as bonus content.
- Dungeondraft and universal VTT files will no longer be guaranteed content. We do not want to tie our process into using Dungeondraft as it has its limitations, and keeping everything compatible with different asset packs across all our projects has proven to be extra work and prone to errors. We can still share them as bonus content when they are available.
The goal of this all is to:
- Allow us to make more regular and consistent new releases
- Have better Foundry VTT support (once the pending updates are taken care of)
- Allow more time to learn new things
- Have more flexibility to make some extra maps based on votes
- Work on new stuff like tokens, character art, creatures, gear, etc
These changes will be rolled out gradually over October and November as we move to a new release process. More details will follow soon.
MODERN Mythos Maps!
Yes, we revised the focus of Mythos Maps once again and kicked it off again—this time, with a modern-day focus on cosmic horror and urban fantasy. So, if you need maps for Delta Green, Vampire, or Modern Call of Cthulhu, for example, this might be worth checking out.
The new Mythos Maps focuses on decades from 1980 to the present day, but some maps might be suitable for other eras too - like the recent sewer map.

Map Suggestions & Ideas
This is a new feature for the Shareholder Reports. I thought this would be a good place to ask for map ideas for upcoming polls. We are not short of ideas, exactly :) but new ideas are always welcome, and recurring requests are something we know to speed up in our plans.
Please feel free to comment on this post with your map suggestions and ideas, and we will add new ideas to our backlog. Frequent and the most interesting suggestions will be included in the upcoming map polls.
