PriÀm

Well done! But I didn't make a mistake. So how is it possible... Mini spoiler if you want to know : chap 7 "He had never killed a mammal before. In fact, he had never killed anything before the Tutorial." He killed some things in the Tutorial (not mammals) For this chap => When he said he "killed" his girlfriend, he didn't do it with his own hands... It's an exaggeration, but he considers that his actions/decisions led to her death.

LordOfMurder

In this chapter Priam says he killed his girlfriend, in chapter 7 he claims to have never killed a mammal before and in chapter 27 he kills a revenant and claims it's his first time killing a person. Not all of these claims can be true, so it seems like theres some continuity errors to sort out.

AzorAhai

not everything needs to be directed towards direct damage, I think he's resistances need to be diverse to counter anything

Prem Chanumalla

Where can I find the link to the discord?

HJSecond

They are on the spreadsheet on the discord

Luciaron

Hmm well his list of resistances is pretty interesting but a lot of them are pretty specific. Are Depths and Necromoon resistance useful to build into his base? They seem more focused on corruption rather than direct damage. I guess they just seem situational but maybe they'll have other benefits.

mathieu brassard

Mostly if they dont want to end up 500 years from now trying to kill each other

_mori

I guess you could look at it that way. But it still feels like a stretch of a connection, but that’s probably a result of Priam’s application of his Mist concept. I could see what you’re saying being true, but I think it isn’t likely that Priam will explore the possibility extensively. His resilience so far has been entirely passive. It’ll require a degree of awareness for when he’s being divined to even start to use his mist? I may just be making it sound more difficult than it would be though. Could as well be that Priam infuses his mist with the skill or vice versa (if it’s at all possible). Still, aside from his attempts at stealth, and other offenses, Priam hasn’t used his mist defensively in this way.

_mori

If she sacrificed herself, he wouldn’t be opposed to reviving her. It seemed like he actually killed her deliberately. The why isn’t clear, but my theory is that it’s something to do with his talent. Maybe she was one of the people his patron sponsored? Or maybe they had a falling out sometime during the tutorial, though that seems less likely after reading the previous chapter.

Baconwargod

Fair he did say it was his mother who was the Queen.

Casper Wildoer

Probably for 10. There might be a title for ideal eather perception AND ideal eather perception and im expecting a title after his tempering.

Wanderer

I belive he is a tier 6/7

Casper Wildoer

Yes i suppose potential is the more valuable resource

_mori

Do y’all think there’s going to be a title for 7 ideal upgrades?

Zaim İpek

As far as I am aware resistance skills work like any other skill. It encrypts hid information from indirect inference and meta-data from being directly read. Concepts have their own traits which are revealed progressively towards Unity. We have already learned that Concepts can enhance skills and/or influence how a skill develops. We have seen it with Eve, Esmée, and Jasmine. All three use skills, that are enhanced significantly by concepts. The moon mist skill automatically gets boosted by the mist concept for obvious reasons, but for the concept to influence the development of other skills probably requires the concept to become more fully part of who Priam is, such that it affects almost everything he does. Unity would accomplish this. And we know the Mist concept has the property of hiding, so it seems logical to me how that would enhance any kind of resistance to detection, active or passive.

_mori

I recall something similar but also don’t remember any of his skill evolutions not restring to 0? Or maybe the statement was referring to how you’d be able to get stronger with better skills from the get go and have better chances with a tribulation compared to someone who only has common skills as the source of their stats? Being able to get a 100 stats with a level 14 epic skill might result in better chances at a tribulation versus reaching the same threshold with 2 level 20 common skills? And, Investment wise, unlocking a legendary skill right off the bat will not cost any potential, whereas you’d need at least 500(?) going from common to legendary.

_mori

You’re regarding the resistance like it’s a stealth skill, which isn’t the case. It doesn’t hide his presence, just makes it harder to discern. In that way, there’s synergy with an actual stealth skill or his Mist. An opponent can know that Priam or someone is present, but he unable to specify much about his location with stuff like divination. And as long as he remains in stealth, he can remain effectively hidden with them unable to pin down his location. I don’t see how it would help his resistance evolve though.

Zaim İpek

Now I'm thinking about ideal upgrades. I don't know about Aether-Manipulation, but I think the next logical evolutionary step for Revelation Resilience is to achieve Unity with a concept that has synergy with the skill, such as Mist, for its obscuring properties. Also, I just learned that mist dampens and distorts sound, which explains why I always feel it is quieter in a dense fog, because it is quieter.

LIMBO

Teasing the tittle of the novel there a lil bit, I saw it. Freedom is indeed a noble concept.

Casper Wildoer

I thought I remembered it being mentioned that it was better to get higher rarity skills from the get go so that you could take full advantage of the higher number of given atribute point per level. But if you reset all skills to level 1 upon increasing the rarity then that would mean that getting the common skill first and going up the rarities would net you more attribute point than getting the legendary skill right from the beginning.

_mori

It’s an Elysian king. The pheonix prince wasn’t an Elysian prince. And his father wasn’t all that powerful iirc

Casper Wildoer

Ah oke thank you

PyritePlunder

Ah this comment was supposed to be a response to someone else but i think i messed it up, i was talking about the dude who's statue priam pissed on

_mori

Which guy? Priam’s Patron?

_mori

No I think all rarity upgrades resets the skill upgrade to 0.

_mori

What are Priam’s other ideal skills again?

_mori

So Priam uses the token on aether manipulation? I wonder how it’ll work. There likely isn’t just a single set of requirements for an ideal upgrade to be unlocked. For aether perception, priam seems to have gotten the most generic ideal upgrade from the concepts (though that doesn’t take away from the fact it’s ideal), and for every other ideal upgrade there’s been some flair with the way the description and skill name change. So will using the token give him a long list of requirements? Or will it perhaps give him the list he’s most likely to complete? I could see it generating a list where one of the requirements is having a particular META stat evolved. It’s such a convenient reward too. Priam was just complaining about not being able to get both manipulation and perception. Now he has a clear path towards the former.

_mori

What does marriage have to do with their abilities? It’s not like there’s a system requirement to becoming married.

_mori

Billions likely don’t know that he’s on Elysium. They’d only learn of it after the fact, if at all.

Pievalley

Wait i’m confused I thought people try to stay disassociated with anyone on Elysium because karmic bonds to “the frontier planet” is to be avoided at basically all cost So why are billions scrying him

mathieu brassard

I'll raise a question. in the perspective of the abilities sculpting your soul and your character influencing abilities, would it not be important to find a partner for marriage that synergize/complement with their build in addition to soul resonance (or whatever you can call it)? won't 2 people with great compatible personalities but opposing path or divergent path just end up screwed? same goes if one day they end up with 4 tier difference

Blightdad

Ideal Aether Manipulation here we come

bcd051

So... friggin... good.

BelligerentGnu

I'm officially shipping Prian and Esmee. I dub them: Novel Perspective.

Andrew

Thank you!

Casper Wildoer

Does getting an ideal skil set the level of the skill back to 0? Because usually when a skill goes from rare to epic or similar it just keeps counting up from where it left of. Or am i somehow mixing that up?

Casper Wildoer

He'd better. Thats one of the most foundational skills he has and wil go a reeeaaaaly long way.

Connor Hinrichs

Thank you! A resistance based around Karma sounds like an excellent resistance to base a tempering technique on

HJSecond

He still has the dragon's attribute upgrade, I think Meta authority or Meta affinity upgraded will probably be a prerequisite.

HJSecond

Chapter 41 I think

HJSecond

He had 8 without Revelation resilience, he also has the Fire champion one

Zaim İpek

Finally a skill to boost his meta-authority further! I would bet that a certain minimum amount of meta-authority is a prerequisite for the Aether Manipulation ideal upgrade. This particular resistance skill is so very useful! And it gets trained completely passively simply by others trying to investigate him. This Revelation Resilience really is among his very best skills. And this new notification that just went out about him will inspire further investigation, which will continue to grow the skill. A beautiful cycle. I wonder if Priam will ever be able to get that system reward of asking questions to alternate universe versions of himself again. I wonder if that's a high-level colosseum reward.

PyritePlunder

I think that guy is only tier 5? My memory could be wrong here, he does seem pretty powerful if he can revive people

Connor Hinrichs

Anyone got the description of Consequence resistance for me? Or the chapter that it's from?

James Faulkner

Although depths would help counter his AI maybe becoming corrupted? Also the Necromoon event is gonna last years and get much worse.

James Faulkner

Ooooh, maybe! Or maybe it was the god he keeps farming for achievements?

Auber

I feel that Depths and Necro could merge into a more applicable resistance, like corruption resistance or the like.

Auber

Or ideal upgrade prerequisites for Seduction? The universe would be begging for him to walk over them then!

Baconwargod

The Tier 7 King is the parent of the Phoenix Prince I think.

James Faulkner

Rizzlord Priam strikes again haha

Ahppy

It’s interesting he had 7 epic resistances not including Revelation Resilience. The only two that I would say shouldn’t be used is Depths and Necromoon resistance. Too specific, even if they’re very useful for specific opponents.

Lijwent

Ooh a skill that gives meta authority, so far it seams to gmbe the hardest to get

Disclancer

Hmm, upgrade prerequisites for Aether Manipulation to be revealed?

Derze

Damn. The plot thickens. I guess the last mission for his tutorial will either directly lead to Vics death or indirectly. The way it’s written seems like he blames himself for her death rather than doing the deed himself. Alternatively , it could be that only one of them could survive and she chose to die in his place. Could it be that it was her wish for him not to die that got him his Talent? He said she loved him and he couldn’t do the same, so that discards betrayal. Altruistic sacrifice or did he really kill her? Omg. This is wild. Also, I really enjoyed Esmée and his reply, it could be an opportunity for a relationship to form out of actual interest instead of political one. Very interesting . Thanks for the chapter.
