I love this episode. To me, it makes sense that sometimes the cultures they visit speak English, or at least earth languages, because these worlds were seeded by races from Earth. It stands to reason that some of them would speak the same language as the team. I do also agree though, that it could be just that the writers of the show decided it was too cumbersome to have Daniel constantly having to translate for them all the time. Love the reference to the Prime Directive. No, they don't have the same directives in the SG1 universe as Star Trek, directives which dictate certain rules explorers have to follow when making contact with alien worlds.
