BTW, ray tracing as a more recent development is only new to realtime experiences like video games, etc. ray tracing has been a thing in pre-rendered animation for a looooong time. Movies as old as A Bug's Life (1998) used ray tracing for specific things like water reflections, but it wasn't used globally until a while later, like in the first Cars movie. Relatively recently, have machines become powerful enough to do it in realtime. But even then, cutting edge machines have been able to do realtime ray tracing for a number of years as well.
