Love this movie! Completely off genre, though hopefully you'll react to Mad Max: Fury Road in the future!!

This and Kiki's Delivery Service are two of my most rewatched comfort films. This one has a special place for me, since my parents were cult members and couldn't really prioritize us over their ideologies I adopted/was informally adopted by a second family in my late teens. After a decade of Christmases and some time living with the second family the dad passed away of cancer. During the months after the diagnosis then again after the death I couldn't get enough of this film. It was very calming, felt like a hug or a good bowl of soup. So glad you got to experience it, and genuinely it only gets better with time. Kiki's Delivery Service I'd recommend for anytime you're feeling a lack of inspiration, that's the one I used to help myself navigate the tedium of adult responsibilities and to stop myself from dropping out of school when stress got a bit much. π Oh, cool note! For this English dub they had sisters voicing the children if I'm not mistaken.
