Julie Smith

It was translated from another language, so a little lack of clarity is understandable.

Julie Smith

Nice tension. I actually considered they might lose the encounter and be forced to give up loot. I knew Matt would keep generating mana until the cows came home, but I forgot about Zach's ability to creatively modify mana on the fly and generate odd constructs, such as the one that blew up their shield.

Mario Morales

"Temba, his arms wide."

MinE

She would still have to activate that skill while avoiding the detection of a T50, which is 100% Ascender behavior.

Pannath

Wouldn't a better name for the skill have been something like [Waypoint], 'Home' is a bit misleading, and could mean anything, and would require an explanatjon. 'Waypoint' or 'Create Waypoint' Wouldn't be hard to understand.

Jordan O'Hare

Does [Home] consider the users capability of traversing an obstacle? Can it return that the position is not accissible? If one could flip a switch to enable some Sky Bridge like contraption which would lower the travel time, would the skill return the new path? If so, one could use this skill for instant morse coded communication across the realm.

Austin Gillespie

Not sure if I’m the only one, but the naming convention described where noteworthy things/events are named after people who did them reminded me of a Next Generation episode. Anyone else think of Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra? Seemed like a similar idea to me

Jordan O'Hare

Prediction: next time the Emperor wants to take a copy of Allie's skill, and so pulls her into his personal T46 Rift, Allie is going to try and use [Home] to finally track where it is. It was described that Emmanuel had her there for a split second before kicking her out, so that she could not recall to there. Not anymore!

Etoyrt

I think it is that they were wondering if the fact that they found these valuable things in this place would lead to the location being deemed valuable by future explorers. If that ends up being the case then access to the location through teleportation could be sold, but that would require the formation of a waypoint which takes time. Time can be used to explore other places to find things to be traded. It turned out that there is another way since Allie thinks she can use the data recorded in this skill to form a waypoint over time without being in the location, but that is another matter from the discussions I think you are asking about.

Ricky Kukowski

I’m confused. It kept sounding like they were leaving the skill orb there? But why? If they take it then there’s no real reason to come back. It’s also not randomly stuck since it was transported there and they talk about transporting skill orbs. Am I missing something?

Jordan O'Hare

They had a brand new skill which had an odd structure, plus a skill creation genius with them (Rah), but we never got his take on the skill. Wasted opportunity!

Jason Hardman

TYFTC! A few typos: because these structures are kind rudimentary -> are kind of rudimentary They clearly wanted to delve the rifts for the first clear business as well as loot the over worlds Natural treasures. -> first clear bonus, as well as loot the over world's Natural treasures.

Oblivion

Being right about the skill and how and how it works feels pretty damn good. The question to me now becomes can Matt modify this in a way that he can target “Home” with “Portal” and just dump mana for long enough to cover the distance? If the skill structure has to physically hold the mana until it reaches the necessary mana then probably not. However, if there is a way to hold the mana in a structure in real space outside of the skill structure and steadily fill it then this might be possible. Maybe using his mana crystals to create a physical gate that absorbs the energy from the structure would work. Likely a very slow process to cover such insane distances and thus never being better than Allie, but potentially invaluable. Also, I have a feeling our ascenders will be buying some crew silence after their next high tier fight. There’s no way Matt doesn’t run into a scenario where the solution is solved by a few hundred billion mana either directly to someone’s dome or in escape.

Kbzzy

I always wondered why Matt didn’t offer mana stones for ascender bets. It would be hilarious when they all find out he’s been fleecing them

Duke Kireej

I'm ready for chapter 1000 where they're in the true war and the gang is all t50 lol with the interviening chapters being them tiering up on the hidden T46 planet that Matt figures out how to best tier it up to T50. Could be fun, but probably not what's going to happen -shrug-

Duke Kireej

[Wormhole] just sounds like it would be Allie's t50 talent

Flopmind

It's always nice to see a problem that Matt can't wash away with endless mana. Not that they necessarily need the ship in order to get back home with Allie around, but it'd still be highly preferable.

Raymond Lenihan

Wouldn't it have broken when Liz tried to absorb it into her inner spirit and her talent forced a modification that broke the skill then?

Raymond Lenihan

Didn't just a couple chapters ago it said they needed to stay a week somewhere to crest a way point? I'm going to have to go back and look now, see if the difference is explained.

Raymond Lenihan

"but he hit three out of four shots even through the other ships’ desperate doges." Images of Shiba Inus piloting the ships are cracking me up 😂

Xarow

Here was me thinking [There’s No Place Like Home] would be the name for the skill, as a wizard of oz reference. Really cool idea for a skill. The secondary part sounds like it has truly huge potential for identifying real pace connections.

Cteatus

Skill feels like spaghetti huh? Hmm does spaghetti have any connection to massive celestial bodies? Oh spaghettification is what happens when you fall into a black hole? Can't help but feel like this is the first step in a long journey to some sort of [Wormhole] skill.

Sean McClain

I assume the ship has a channel mana cannon so Matt could probably obliterate any tier 35/36 ship if given a minute or two. But that would risk his talent getting out. Then again if there are no witnesses who can't be sworn to secrecy....

Werwolf12

I can't wait to see what Allie gets up to with [Home]

Alex

Manny must've healed her a lot in the past then. Because I remember that it only took Ally maybe half an hour to force a way point or a few weeks/months for one naturally to form. And that was as a fresh T25. In the war she couldn't make new ones cause she was too spiritually exhausted, but she should be fairly fit at the moment.

Alex

I doubt it'd work through Aster's spiritual shielding/anti divination wards.

Jordan O'Hare

[The First Born Returns in Triumph]

Jordan O'Hare

Place your bets on the Sects name for [Home]!

Jordan O'Hare

Use Home while inside Aster's Spirit Space. Then one can always find her

Alex

Hmmmmm.... I don't think skill orbs shattering has anything to do with the number of uses people get out of them. In one of the early chapters in the war arc, Matt has a meeting with a group of skill advisers where they discuss skill theory, and they tell him that skills are ALWAYS modified when they're absorbed. A cultivator's spirit will apply a sort of base-level modification when they absorb a skill, which is required for the skill to be able to function. I think in some cases a cultivator's spirit will attempt to apply a base modification that will place too much stress on a skill orb and shatter it: skill orbs don't have a finite number of uses, they have a finite range of base modifications that can be made during absorption.

A Flashy BR

Tyftc!!

nolan saylor

Thanks Mantis! Thanks Dae! I wonder if a skill could be targeted. This one in particular was affected by a Talent with the person wanting to go home. It be interesting if the Skill was for teleporting to a specific planet/ place. Any other location would require modifications. Or maybe it is a channel skill that leaves a mark that upon the user stopping channeling it teleports the person to the mark. Maybe some sort of reserve skill akin to phantom armor that upon receiving a blow that would kill them instead teleports them to the mark. -I might be right. So the persons's folly was not absorbing the skill at a place where they could use it to recall themselves to their home. It's like getting train ticket to your house, when you're on a different continent and can't use it. -oh, with a bonus feature of an internal sense of direction. That also has some fun uses. I wonder how flexible the skill orbs are in regards to modifications. If someone does the modifications poorly is it stuck that way? I wonder if the appraiser from way back when ever realized that they were technically the appraiser for an Ascender team? Lol, poor Allie. To be fair, not sure any Ascenders would allow most people to give a spiritual inspection. Ooh, extra worth to Lila and her adventure guild. That may make it the only thing Lila will, or possibly can, take for her portion of the reward. Depending on the rest of their haul she may even have to pay them to make up the difference! I like that it isn't clear if a skill is T14 or T44 just from the orb. Well, I'm glad Allie found a usage for the skill. Instant waypoints!!! -Dang it. Still useful. Being able to make a (single) waypoint while still on the move. If they find another spot she can be making two way points at once. -That confidence, and her reaction, is another reason to ship Rah and Allie. Giant rear cannon. Now they are on the Thousand Sunny and are going to do a Coup de Burst! We want a reasonable amount... give us everything. Admittedly for one planet, but still. It's fun to see T0 v2 finding a foe they can't outright beat. A nice change of pace from steam rolling +3 rifts or roughly same tier elites. Sneaky tactics to win a chase is fun. So Zach's spell is akin to causing a homogenous skill, like a mana shield, to experience something like Spontaneous Aspect Cascade? Ascenders having to rein it in, the shame. And for a mere +7 tiers. T28 vs T35.

Tom C

Money is just a tracking thing for Matt now though right? Or is he not allowed to just generate a stupid amount of mana stones for himself to spend cos it would look suspicious? I suppose having the skill as a bartering / betting item is best - he can then get his hands on other ascenders cool items without spending mana stones TFTC!

Havokk

Thats a hell of a bet item and one they can make multiple bets from

cel

thanks for the chapter! that skill seems absolutely nuts.

Jordan O'Hare

Thanks!

Kasamuri

Thanks for the chapter!
