The characters in the Cape live in an alternate world to ours that could be described as early utopian. The reason for this is that I wanted the characters to have grown up and lived in a highly educated, secular, and socialized world without war, bigotry, poverty, homo/transphobia, etc. In this way the characters and stories can focus on more universal moments of life, like young love, disappointment, change, friendship, mental health, sex, etc, without the baggage and trauma of a world like ours.
I also wanted to create something for gay people to escape to and dream of, a setting where the specter of bigotry is simply non-existent, and the people of the world live peacefully and without fear.
I try to keep all that stuff as a background element, not a focal part of the series. The characters and the moods of the stories are my primary focus. But if there's interest I will do a Q&A sometime about the town and world of the Cape.
Anyway! Thanks again for the questions. The next ep is a really horny one where some of the gang take a little camping trip to the hot springs up on the nearby mountains. Stay tuned, and thank you for your support!

Thanks! βοΈ It's kind of fun being able to slip in world building stuff thru the Q&A pics, bc there's little reason for the characters to mention it in the actual stories. Plus I don't really want it to be the focus of the stories, either.

I like how this Q&A, in addition to letting us learn more about Hussein, is also giving a bit of insight into the reality the folks from the Cape are living in.
