i really liked todd’s conversation with his dad when he asked him why does he have to be proud of him on his own terms. when your goal is to live vicariously through your children or you have that « i am mean bc the world is mean » mindset it’s so fucked up. todd kinda reminded me of my brother in this episode, the concept of failure is subjective, and you don’t need to agree w your child’s choices (career, relationships or goddamn religion lol) as long as they’re living a safe and happy life and not hurting nobody that’s really all that should matter to you as a parent
