A Few Field Notes
🕑 Added 2024-01-14 20:43:31 +0000 UTCHere we go, a few answers to questions from the last video, and a look at following a difficult pattern holistically. Finding the rhythm and rules of a pattern can make it a lot easier, and I take a look at a row of the field sweater to show you what I mean.
I also do the whole video on my phone because Joe's sick upstairs- we've had a heck of a week. (I filmed this yesterday, and so far I still only have psychological covid.) A few references that I mention -
Laura Nelkin's speed swatch technique - I think you can see there how it might be awkward for some knitters, particularly those who hold the yarn in their right hand. Still, it might be perfect for you.
Exhaustedly,
Stephanie

Thank you for the extra yarn over tip! Do I wish I'd watched the full video before knitting 4 repeats? Yes. Am I still happy to have ripped it back to the ribbing and started over? Absolutely.
Thanks! I love the idea of the extra yarn over - I will try that the next time I encounter a nupp :). I may also give Laura Nelkin's swatching technique a try - I carry the yarn in my left so maybe I'll be one it works for! Thanks for including that link. I hope you still feel well and that Joe is better now. I got Covid for the first time a couple weeks ago and had a tough go with it too.
