You know … the death penalty would be abolished in 10 seconds IF …. cops who coerce or manipulate false confessions from, and prosecutors who engage in misconduct including Brady violations, in order to arrest, charge, and convict people who are later determined to be innocent, were required to serve the exact same sentence that the wrongfully imprisoned had received. If the *many* bad actors in the American criminal injustice system were forced to literally stake their very lives and liberties on their certainty of a defendant’s guilt, there would be a very rapid and extremely sharp decrease in cocky, abusive cops and brazen, overzealous prosecutors! I say we start a movement toward that end! Who’s with me????
